Closet or tent as first grow?

Looking at a total space of 6' wide 2' deep and 9' high in a spare closet in my theater room which is light controlled itself. The biggest tent with 2' depth appears to be 4' so with that being said would the closet work just as well if I do the following...
Room is controlled temp btw at 68
Closet doors can stay open or closed they are dual doors.

Lights will be two 265watt hlg qb kits or three 135watts. Inside closet planning to have a phresh 6x24 carbon filter attached to a 6" inline fan where I will have a hole drilled into attic to run venting to existing exit outside house.

My bigger issue first is smell than sound although that's more for for the wife factor. If growing in the closet will it stay in the closet as well as the tent would keep it? Maybe add some sort of panda film instead of matte white paint?

This will be a dwc 5 gallon bucket grow number of plants dependent.

True but is it worth the loss of the sq ft In Your opinion? The labor part not to bad I wouldn't think but the extra space would be nice however could always veg separately outside tent I suppose to harvest more frequently in the left over space. Smoking ounce week currently.

good thing is you can decide the size of your tent. I suggest getting one that fills the footprint of your closet and have no worries of extra space.some tents have separate quarters for different needs even.

That's the issue with 2' depth there are virtually none to fill a 2x6x9 size.

Widest I've seen is 48" in 2' depth. Which is why I was curious if instead of sacrificing the space with the tent could a closet grow be just as productive and stealth for smells and sound?

Currently growing in a closet, same dimension as yours. That 2' depth is a pain to work with, without opening the double door. It's doable, you just have to be creative in sealing your closet not so much for the veg stage but in the flowering phase (light leak and smell)

Thanks to everyone for helping.

Do you have a carbon filter with inline fan venting outside grow area?

My worry is the smell and one reason why I though tent originally than I could close doors run and ac vent with ducting attached to intake area of tent with hole cut through door. Thanks for confirming that for me. What strain are you growing as well? Do you have a grow journal?

I would think the closet would stay cooler than a 2x4 tent with 4sqft more area and 2' height difference would it not?

No, I cant drill holes in my apartment. I do use air scrubber.

Currently running some bagweed.

My closet is right next to a window ac, so temp is not a problem for me.

The tent will help with keeping the water from ruining your floors, but might cause mold between the tent and closet walls. If you go with the closet, I would put some kind of tray that will cover the whole floor and run plastic up the walls. Next take the door off the closet and save it. Buy the cheapest replacement door and mount you intake and exhaust to the door. Put them on a temp/humi controller and your done. Replace original door when you move out or stop growing.

Most situations I prefer a tent but with yours I think I would go with the whole closet.
As far as the smell goes as long as your always pulling air in passively and taking it out with your extraction then you shouldn't have a problem. My grow room has tents, the room doesn't smell unless I'm drying it which is not in my tents.
I could easy work with 4ft height but having those lights your going to use the extra square footage will help with the heat. Smaller the space, quicker it heats up. Plus its nice to not be limited should you find a strain stretchy.
I have the 2x 260w qb kits in a 4x4 (half my 8X4) I would probably be leaning toward the 3x 135w kits with your space. They would fit better. I find my QBs are almost too much.

HAHAHA I used to grow in a closet here's my first YouTube video of one my first grows. You can do it but it's hard to keep cool with the big lights it's like a Easy Bake Oven you need cool tubes. I now have a 4x4 tent using two 400 watters using cool tubes :eyesmoke:

I second the cheap door suggestion +the tray for the floor and vote for whole closet, no tent. The tent just doesn't seem necessary in your situation.

Would it be better to vent back into the same theater room as closet vs venting outside directly from closet?

I thought it was optimal to vent elsewhere, however if that works, makes it super easy. The room is air conditioned I just hope by venting to same room it will not ruin the wall treatment, screen, speakers and electronics due to moisture etc.

The closet will be wrapped with panda film or something for sure as well as floor thanks for ideas.

Vent to outside The door vent would be for makeup air (passive intake)
