There are many, many reasons why your plants are so whispy.

Here's a few that I think are probably the main causes.

1. You don't have enough light 2. You don't have the lights close enough 3. Your set up needs better equipment.

I dont do auto flowers but just thought I would say, I think that smaller plant will give you more buds then that sonic one.

smaller one is a critical plus from dinafem.....isnt in flowering yet....since the auto flower stays under 20/4 its wholelife...once its done in 25 days....i will then use the light at 12/12 to flower the critical plus

I mean honestly, even with maximum capabilities your buds won't be all that big (150 hps is still pretty small) , but it would put what you have to shame.

well the top is now within a foot of it......is it too late now?....or will they get much bigger within the next 25 days?

I mean it will help, but it ain't going to get them that much bigger. If you had started it that way from the beginning you might of got a topper or two that would of been decent popcorn bud. At this point all you can do it keep it closer and hope for the best.

IMO if your going to run something that is that low of watts, you need to maximize every other aspect of your grow. Getting some mylar, proper ventiliation/temps/humidity, proper light distances and some good potting soil would be the 1st things on my agenda.

A little research is always helpful too. Using google for keywords makes finding anything you want to know easy. When it comes to this wonderful plant, if you thought of it, somebody has probably asked it and had it answered already. There are many people who do closest grows with pretty nice results.

white paint is just as good for lighting reasons but you really need better air circulation to keep the heat of the HPS from being a problem.. I always keep the light a few inches away at every point in its growth. If you have a good fan and a good circulation fan, and your HPS has some type of heat-removing ducting with a ducted fan, you won't need to worry about heat..

White paint on a wall can absorb some of the heat and require more power to remove the hot air, whereas mylar is heat-reflective and will not allow heat to transfer beyond the mylar itself.

as long as you get the light closer and have that fan, I'm sure you'll see some really fat nugs during the end of flowering. Thats when you really see them get chubby, thats when light is most vital.
