Cloning?

I want to try and get down the concept of cloning. I have a relatively decent idea on just how to do it but I want to get it down.

I know I need a rooting solution such as Clone-X but is that all i need to put on the stem to make it root? also how far down on the node should I clip it? It would be greatly appreciated to know any kind of cloning methods out there.

Thanks!

Clip just below the node. Put the rooting solution on the part of the stem to be buried below the surface. I think bubble cloners work best, you don't even need cloning solution.

i think u meant rooting hormone on the part of the plant u intend to root. clonex solution is for the water.

Your rite I meant rooting hormone. I dont have much knowledge on cloning but I believe I know what to do. I just need rooting hormone and some clone-x to help it get goin.

yes. first take your cut 6 inch cut or so, then a the bottom node make a 45 degree cut with razor(about 3/16-1/4 below that bottom node). then lightly scrape away some of the outer stem skin exposing the cambium (about 3/8-1/2 inch). then dip in hormone and place in what ever u r planning to root in.

Note that its perfectly possible to clone using just a razor or sharp knife to take the clone, and plain water to immerse the clone.

You don't "need" a rooting compound; and plenty of people clone successfully without one.

Those things just help roots form a little faster, and (in some cases) help reduce the chance of root rot from immersion in water.

this gets ugly. aero, the only way to root...........

i know about these aero pots i just dont exactly know how to use them. my local hydro store carries all different sizes of aero pots so i have a good access to them. how exaxtly would i go about using them for cloning? If it is a difficult task to use the aero pots i will probly just end up using regular pots, but if not im always open to new grow methods and ive been wondering about aero pots for a while now anyways.

The photo up above I actually blew. I should have cut the bottoms of the net pots off and just used them as a collar for the neoprene inserts. had I cut the bottom of the pots off there would be nothing there but a rootball. The cloner I posted above was made with an igloo cooler a water pump , plumbing and sprayers. Its more or less a ex cloner rip off. The cloner up above is like 18 usable sites . all you're really doing is spraying the cuts with a solution .

Ohh really? That is unfortunate they didn't work out, the roots in the pic look nice tho. But it seems like a simple process to go about it that way. I will probably just end up using a hormone and sticking them in some soil to root.
I just about have this cloning process down now.

Oh no, they worked out, I just popped out the neoprene insert and buried the roots net pot and all, its not a issue.

Just loaded it up with some new cuts tonite as a matter of fact, they certainly aren't as pretty as some but I bet they'll do real well. I took the chem dawg cuts at like 4 weeks into flower.

I buy the cheap $12 Soil Cubes. I then get 2x tupperware of water + clean razor. 1 tupperware filled with water+b1 thrive(or any other root stimulator) I let the soil cubes soak in that for a minute or two, the 2nd tupperware is filled with plain water and used to cut the stem/branch/clone in. I cut 1 node down from the intended node to be planted & I stick that branch/clone in the water, cut it again at the node I will plant.. then place it in the moist/wet soil cube.. Mist then dome.. google the rest. hard part over

I get 95%+ success using only water with the cubes as well.. but I use stuff anyway. only thing you gain by adding some root stimulator or bubble clone bucket is time.

Yea I can see the buds starting on the chem dawg. I myself have been meaning to get ahold of se good chem dawg seeds, its a real nice strain. I cant wait to start cloning mine im just waiting for enough money to take that trip to the hydro store, i also godda pick up two 600 hps's.

Those are very good instructions thank you. I thought the same about time with the root stimulator, u get that extra needed time out of it. I have seen people use the water method before so im somewhat familiar with it. But ill look more into that and see what i can do.
Thanks!
