Cloning with CFLs

I have a batch of AK-47 clones going that were taken during flowering stage from their mother. I started them under 24hrs light to revert to vegetation & after almost a week the clones hadn't take root so I cut the lights down to 18-6. Finally starting to see some root growth now!

Currently using two 23w CFLs & was wondering if that is adequate or should be using any 6500k at this point? Lights are about 4-6 inches away.

Only my 2nd cloning trial, clones were taken properly (according to Marijuana Grow Basics by Jorge Cervantes) Humidity dome keeps humidity anywhere from 65%-80%

Clones are still alive but they've been going on 18 days now & I feel that's a long period, could it be that they were too far in flowering?

That light should be sufficient
If they are still alive then they have a chance still...
How far along in flower were they?

They we're about 2-3 weeks in flowering, they were the very bottom nodes & were just starting to form nuggets on top. I'll take a couple quick pics for you, the hairs all died off at this point but the cutting is still sturdy.

Btw, just came home & they were waking up from 6hr sleep and found one of the clones with roots peeking out the side of the jiffy pellet =)

are planning to just keep rooting with them or to actually veg with? Here is some good info that explains more about flowering clones, i prefer floweriing clones because of the incredible branching and fast growth rate and the amount of clones you can get from them.

I was planning on letting them root first under 18/6 & that also reverts them from flower to veg because I'd like to make one of them my mother plant for future clones, I read your link & it gave me some knowledge I can use thank you!

It's got me wondering - when I take a clone during flowering, should I let it root in 12/12 & go straight to flowering? Seems unconventional - anyone?

Got some photos here of the rooted clone which has been repotted. As you can see from the closeup the hairs that formed during flowering withered away when the clone was reverted to vegetation.

Just for a little experiment I've taken a new clone & put it under 12/12 with my other flowering plants. Keeping it in the humidity dome & interested to see if it can survive going straight into flowering, will post more if anyone else is interested to know what happens!:leaf:

clones dont need much light and they may have gone into shock a lil so thats why there taken so long to root .i never clone flowering plants for this reason seem to take twice as long as normal

You're about to see an explosion of irregular growth
This is the 2nd time I've cloned a flowering plant & the first one went through a full cycle but had 8 branches at the base, very irregular but it worked well with LTS & still produced an adequate yield. At this point I'll take any kind of growth, as long as the cutting lives!
