Cloning Vanilla Kush

I have 2 mothers 3 months old...I took first cuttings 6 weeks ago all died after a couple of weeks. I cut 16 new ones 2 days ago all have died except 2 are still upright...Anyone have trouble cloning this strain?
I wonder why some strains don't clone?

Obviously you already know how to clone...did you starve the mother of nitrogen and take cuttings from the bottom? What hormone are you using if any and how do you clone?

Let's see....I didn't give any nutes for 2 weeks maybe a little longer and I was only using 1/2 strength before that as they seem quite green....I use CloneX thickish almost gel like and presoak rooting plugs with CloneX solution diluted. I soaked them & squeezed out excess liquid to make them moist....I put a little of the solution in the bottom of the tray and covered with lid.
I took cuttings from the top as the lower ones were so skinny and woody....
After I took cutting I cut the leaves in 1/2 placed them in cold water just long enough to make cutting, while sbmerged I made the diagonal cut 1/4-1/2 inch below bottom internode/leaf set....with razor I peeled a little of the course fiber down toward cut, dipped the cuttings in CloneX stuck them under 400W MH (2 feet below)...Year round temps in the room w/light on 65-70 degrees, flower room gets up to 80 with 600 W HPS....I read in this or another forum that these are hard to clone....I wonder why some strains are hard to clone...I have read some strains can't be cloned and that boggles my mind on some level.....

Try not using a dome on her maybe. Whether you use a bubble cloner, or leave water to be wicked up through the medium you won't need a dome.

I have a heating pad on low setting on an hour and off an hour. Tray is tilted very slightly toward heating pad so plugs don't get soaked (heating pad is folded in have and only rests under the water portion of the tray...dome fogs nicely and nearly clears before the pad turns back on..

I have a bubble cloner too, but I get better results and quicker roots in the tray....it's kind of a pain in my ass to remember to keep the reservoir cool with frozen water bottle...tray I can forget about all day and only need to spray a couple of times...

Did you mist them daily ??? I know some strains won't clone...but I would just screw with the variables if you really want a fair chance. You can try different brands of hormone, different concentrations, also...you can try splitting the bottom 1/2 " of the stem in half while cloning as well.
