Cloning is killing me

Hi guys
I have been trying to clone for 3 weeks now, and I always end up with the same result - Clones die.
I have tried to cut from the top of the mother and from further down. Big clones, small clones . Always the same death as result.
I have read and tried the techiniques by Al b fuct, but I just can get them to stay alive long enough. The latest try is still going on and it is better than the other techniques by far.
I have a tank with ph:d water and containing root stimulation nutes. I have an immersion heater in it keeping the water at 28 degrees celcius. I also have two airstones. In this tank I have dropped a sheet of styrofoam in which the clones are placed with the stems sticking out about an inch at the bottom. This way, the clones always have contact with water regardless of water level in the tank. The clones have managed to stay alive for more than a week, but I still se no signs of roots and now the stems are starting to become hollow inside. I am fearing that these clones are faced with the same fate as their predecessors. What can I do to get the motherjumping clones to survive and shoot some roots?????

Is your money tight,if not buy a 25 site power cloner for169.00.I never have to worry with cloning again the its the best 200.00$ Ive spent. My clones took in rockwool but were not as heathy as I like them to be.Heating pad and the correct humidity helped me alot.Homeaid bubblers take good clones too.

when u cut them off the mother plant put the stem in a cup of water as fast as posible so no air gets in the stem then do ur normal thing

How healthy is your mother?Ive found clones hard to take if my mother had something wrong. Are you holding the mother off of nitrogen before you take cuttings.Drop the nitrogen level on your mother and your clones root faster.

you can build your own aerocloner for under 100. biggest expense is pump and misters everything else readily available at local hardware store(1/2" pvc and tees and elbows, rubbermaid plastic storage container).

sounds like they are getting to much moisture. they are no different than big plants. thay still have to breathe. i use a 1min on 5 min off cycle that works real well in my cloner

good luck!!!

My cloner is basically an exact copy of the rafter cloner with a heater in the water. I have the floating "deck" in which the clones are placed and they get ALOT of tiny bubbles licking the stems all the time. I just tried to mix a different kind of juice this time for the mothers....Hopefully this will help them root faster.

I use straight ph balanced water and nothing else.I was useing cloning solution but it slowed things down.try keeping it simple and dont stress so much, you will eventually keep getting more and more to take.I had a unheathy mother once and the clones would not root in my cloner.I could not tell my mother was sick, she just croaked a couple months after i took the cuttings. Peace

i tries doing it all fancy before, setting up a bubble cloner. I had issues with it, do it the old fashion way, get some rapid rooter plugs or rockwool cubes, some cloning powder, and there you go. my last batch of 55 cuttings, I have had I think 2 die so far. and this is the most clones i have done at once (im pretty new to all this myself)

i completely agree with wowzerz im on second round of clones 7 out of 7 took i use a tinfoil bake pan with a plastic dome under 100-w. cfl. did in dirt first time & i also immediatly dipped stem in water then cloning powder jell would work too for my second batch i used rapid rooter plugs 4 days & still as perky as when i cut them i mist them with strait water 2-4 times a day light 24/7 this time first time 20/4 the rapid-rooters are the shit i use a nail to poke smaller hole in top of plug & after powder/jell just insert stem in hole 7 put under dome i use egg flat to support plugs so they dont fall over go to ''weedsthatplease.com for cloning step-by-step with pictures only use rapid-rooters instead of soil sometimes simple is best i still dont know much about cloning can only tell you what worked for me lol

Im with this dude here it seems too me like you might be trying too hard bud. All I use for my clones is an old box that my jiffy pellets came in. I use a couple of clothes pins to hold it up and taped a strip of plastic all along the gap. I take my clones, put them in water while I finish, then dip them in cloning gel and pop em in the jiffy pellets. I place it under a flourescent light and every now and then just check in on them and if they look dry I just mist them with plain water. In about six days I have roots coming out the sides and bottom. haven't lost one yet. good luck.

i had a sick mother plant and the clones i took from her rooted very quickly. i was suprised and they appeared to be healthy. all they were was bagseed.

I use plain water, rooting gel, with rockwool cubes and a dome. Thats it!! and only lose maybe 1 every 20 clones... try going simple.

hey fellas, when bubble cloning, should the tips of the stem be just ABOVE the waterline or just BELOW the waterline ?

I always heard below the water line, but since I can't get it to work, I might be wrong

And by the way...trying to go back to basics with a new batch.

Cut, gel, rockwool and heating mat and with dome.
It seems I wasn't misting them often enough before. I am misting about 4 times a day now and they look good,
except for in the morning when they didn't get any mist for a good while, bu they seem to perk right up at around noon.
Hoping for survival.....

cloning is pretty easy I think you are going out of your way causing to many valibles to control
olivias cloning gel is the best on the market(IMHO)
take the branch you want to clone and count down two leafs and make you cut there
dip into gel and place into presoaked media( I use small rockwool cubes)
and then mist with water and cover with dome
it doesn't make a difference distiller or tap water is fine then I leave them in the dark for the first day the
I give my clones 24/7 light
after third day I remove the dome and mist again at this point I leave the dome off I have had trouble getting them to live if I keep them in the high humidity for longer than 3 days
