Cloning Help

Hey everyone.

Got a free Humboldt seed from my order with the tude and thought what the hell, ill pop it. Bloody thing smells so good and grows so fast! Topped and got 6 main colas on it!

Now its occured to me however I wouldn't mind keeping the genetics from this lady (fem seed). She still in Veg under 400w duel spec. Im thinking taking my first bash at cloning!

Any advice, tips, tricks? Looking at straight into soil with just some rooting gel.

I read up quite a bit and im just thinking stick clones in some pots in humidity dome and wait for them to root then flower not long after? Keeping 1 in veg to grow big to be new mother then keep going perpetual with that.

Sound ok?

Take it easy on me, first bash at cloning!

Aint purchased nothing yet.

this is how i do it...simple yet effective....have done it this way to 4 or 500 cuttings and maybe lost 15-20 total....

Materials needed: rockwool, rooting hormone(optional), tray and dome-total investment 20$ and your good for 100 clones
1. Select your cutt from your mother plant.
2. take your cutt...i find that larger cuts root faster than smaller ones for me
3. Now i strip all the nodes and fans off, except for the top 2 or 3 sets..you want to end up with something like this016.jpg
4. Cut on a 45, dip in cloning gel and put in rockwool.
5. Place in tray with dome on top.
6. I like to mist daily...just the dome, not the cuts...keep it humid in the dome!!
7. Water when needed...never let rockwool dry out!!
8. In 8-14 days(strain dependant)you will have this003.jpg

for the light all you need is a simple t-8 fluoro light...very cheap to run...heres my little cloning spot, tucked away behind my steps...

again, this is just what works best for me...i prob tried just about everyway to clone and this is what worked out the best for me....any other questions about cloning that i can help with, id be glad to....hope this helps...

best advice: leave the cutting in a cup of water for at least 24 hours
From what I've noticed, clones don't root from the very bottom
They root from the nodes and internode, where active growth can take place
I've even tried water cloning, but sticking them straight into soil works best for me
hope this helps

Thanks guys and +rep to you ganja! I wanted to stick to straight in soil rather then rockwool but may change my mind. I was gonna just keep them in my grow room under the 400w but they would be deff out of direct light.

do u just plant the rockwool right into soil after? when do u start giving nutes? I use soil that is nutrient free

some of my recent cloning experiences.....

my first attempt at cloning i thought i failed,it was just taking a bit longer due to not having a heat mat..i believe

i carefully took each clone out of the cubes and only 1 had roots,so i planted it into some soil..the rest just had this white crust looking thing formed around the stem with no roots,at first i thought it was done for,but the 1 rooted clone had this white crust as well.

so now im thinking i messed up and should have just let them go for another week,so i just wrapped the stems in moist toiletpaper..i made a diaper for them with 2 squares lmao..after wrapping them i placed them in a large clear party cup, back into the dome with the rest of the clones and now they are all rooted within 3-5 days!

while i thought i failed,i had made a lot more cuttings this time, with a heat mat,and 1 week in i see one cube has 3 monster roots poking out..i had took some other really small cuttings just to experiment more with this toiletpaper cloning technique...

though this time i didnt use any rooting gels or hormones,i left them in a party cup of distilled water..i didnt care for them anymore and forgot about them,a week later i got bored and wrapped them in toilet paper and stuck them back in the party cup,and back into the dome..though it was drained of the water, they seem to root within 3-5 days.the roots do come out of the nodes and i dont see that white crust on the stem.

i use clonex gel, rockwool, tray and dome, heat mat and distilled water at 5.5
keep temps in check,under an 8bulb t5

will upload some pics here shortly

the mothers,Blue Dream on the right and on the left next to it you can kind of see is a small bushyyyy indica Banana OG

clones,5 more on the right side

stems

i didnt take much pics of the roots as they progressed, this is after a few days
wrapped up,you can see the toiletpaper stuck on the roots starting to grow..

this next one is one i just put in water with a party cup along with others and placed in the dome, then added the toilet paper later, didnt use any hormones.was just an experiment.

oh and theres 3 monster roots out of this cube now yeee :) 1 week into the cubes.

sorry if the pics are huge, used a camera, maybe hold control and use the scroll thing on the mouse to make them smaller then readjust for normal viewing

and this lil beauty is one of my clones i want to run others just like it lol

So what just stick the cutting in a glass of water for 24hr then straight into soil?

yeah you just bury the rockwool right in the soil....and if its a clone, i start giving it nutes as soon as it bust roots....i start at a 25% mix and within 10 days im pumping them with 100% recommended strength, if not some more.
