Cloning from Fan Leaves

lol spoken like a textbook understood like a textbook.
Sorry, in very basic terms- the blade produces growth hormone which is sent to the end of the stalk which has been dipped in root hormone(to speed things up!) A literal lump, tumour or callous forms which in turn produces roots. Roots naturally produce a growth stimulant CKK which causes the 'callous' to produce shoots.

In theory there is nothing to argue, that indeed is how clones form...auxins grow roots yes, cytokinins grow shoots okay...now let me see you do it with a leaf. I'll admit you seem to know something about plant hormones, but I'll still need some proof.

hey whats up primeralives

havent seen you in awhile to buddy :)

also i have cloned a fan leaf but it didnt produce any shoots so i killed it.

Mr I Can Do That For Half
Ill watch but am skeptical myself. I have cloned for years and even had to test the clone from a leaf thereory. I can get a leaf to root quite well and the fan leaf will grow larger but no new growth ever came from the 3 or 4 times a tried. The leaf got to certain sizes then seem to die off after a few weeks. but Im intersted to see a single leaf with no nodes start new growth from a non growth point so Ill watch with the rest but if a week goes by and no pictures show up Imma chime back in.Imma doubter but willing to be shown

Must say, I am interested in the outcome.... Can't u borrow a cam for a sec, or use a phone cam? anything.... go tell your neighbor yor selling a sweater on ebay and need to take a digital photo... Sorry I'm impatient..

I think he is going by theory and hasnt put the theory to pratice yet. So dont expect to see real pics. He could fake them to prove his theory, who knows. My theroy is that pot leaves dont have the DNA to make a whole new plant. Some plants like Jade plants yes. Geicos can grow new tails when one gets ripped off, a human cant regrow a hand if it get ripped off. All things in nature are not the same and are all different.

when you said you lay the leaf flat and shoots come out vertically do you mean the entire bottom of the leaf sporuts roots? ive only seen growth like that growing mushrooms, would be cool if it works.......

i wonder what he's waiting for?

i wouldnt start a thread stating something like this if i wasnt going to start sharing pics of the process. JMHO

also, this guy has 25 posts, so we shall see his integrity pretty soon.

lmao it probably was imagine if this thread was just a post to make us all plant a fricken leaf in a medium watch it sustain its own life for god knows how long, and then conclude that we had no paitence for this method...unless like he said IN A WEEK you can go from leaf to rooted noded stalky plant this would blow away sog growing...

Man it takes my babies a full 2 weeks to root and I've tried everything but sperm on 'em...

a big benefit that i could see this having (if it works), would be the amount of clones you could take from a mother plant. i think you would be able to take way for clones if you used fan leafs and regular cuttings.

:peace:

damn, why is everyone so eager to shoot him down? I'd really like to see how this works, this will be the first thread I subscribe to, I want to see where this goes. let the man show us how he does it. and even if it doesn't work, there is no reason to be fuckin assholes to him. how about a little peace? go chill the fuck out.

I am def not trying to shoot him down, I am very eagar to learn a new easier non stunting approah to cloning, as I usually clone right before I flower for the next batch so, I would like 'em plants to keep their built up steam...

Im not talking to you, or anyone in specific. I just hate that people can't let someone show them something, right away they have to shoot it down and be assholes to the guy. someone said he's new and we will see his merit shortly, but we were all new at one point, I still consider myself new to the site. him being new doesn't mean shit. I don't understand why people feel the need to act like an idiot, like the guy saying he's got a psychology degree, that's got nothin to do with anything, he's just trying to make himself sound smart. why pick fights on a site designed to help people and learn new techniques.

There's treachery afoot
Certain plant leaves, when cut from their stems and placed flat on top of the soil, develop roots at particular intervals along the cut veins of the leaf. Eventually, the parent leaf looks as if it has sprouted several baby plants, all growing vertically from the leaf at various points along the veins.
Hmmmmm....very interesting technique, fascinating! I would be most interested in exactly how this is done. It sounds as if the entire leaf is placed on top?? of the soil...is the stem dipped in rooting hormone, the leaf, or, er, um....not making much sense from the abridged version above. If you are willing, would you put step by step directions for cloning of fan leaves on this thread??? I would like to try this as it I am intrigued....and always appreciate another method. Thank you for the interesting thread, always excited to learn new ways to clone!!!
