Cloning a selected pheno

I'm starting to plan and execute my second grow that will hopefully start a small perpetual cycle.
I have some decent genetics that I'd like to preserve and perhaps breed.
I'm confused about the proper route for clones.
I start the seeds, then grow them out but when do I clone to see if any are males, and do I grow out the clones or the seeded plant. Unassuming the close but why is that better.
Thanks in advance.

The last plant I cloned I put into bloom for 22 days so I could see what it was working with then cloned it.( not the advised way but who cares) Once you get the clones off you can do whatever you like with the mama run it, cut it, keep it in the other room in slow motion etc.. I feed low nutes like 1.1 EC and put them in library mode to keep genetics on hand.

1 Source clone donator (I Don't Have Time For Seeds)
2. Veg it out on mama food mix (10-21 days).
3. Take all bottom shoots but not more then 30%.
3.1 Scrape outer stem layer off 2" long
4. Angle cut them under water
5. Dip in gel
6. Quick Dip rooters into PH'd water with great white
7. insert into rapid rooters or 1" rockwool cube
8. Put in the dome
9.1. Plug in mat
10. Spray with 10% nute mix
11. Cover
12. 18/6 for 6-13 days
13. Dry apply Great White to rooted clone roots.
14. Do What Cha Like
15. Rinse and Repeat..

The way I do it. Everyone has their own method but this is what works for me real easy. I use this way to clone any plant I like even outdoor, house plants and sheet from peoples gardens etc..

Thanks for the detailed answer. I'll mark it for myself.
But...let's say you don't have access to clones and had to grow out seeds. Would you clone the plants while in veg, then grow out the clones to see if they're male or female? Or is there A way to tell before they go into flower?

IMO:Me if in that spot. I would pop a whole tray of them and 18/6 them for 3 weeks and cull out obvious looking males. 3 weeks I should be able to sex the others. Hardcase: I would flower for a few days (after 3 weeks) and see if they show themselves and then back to veg and taking clones because once they fully transition it is long to get them back to veg.

OR
I would just flip all of them and play the race game to find the males before they hook my females up and clone those but you have 0 idea of genetics this way and will be Pheno hunting.

#SideNote: They say plants should be 8 weeks old before taking clones..
(Is why I prefer clones)
Good Luck My hunter friend
