clones..

hello,

so first off, I just want to say I;ve done my research. I own "The Bible", and am on this site for like 3 hours everyday cuz there's tons to learn lol.

I just got my first harvest out of the way, and have started some more seeds. I also acquired a couple clones, and I want to try to take clones off of them.

So, to take a clone, I understand how to cut it and root it, but i'm lost on what part of the lifecycle to take it in.

Do I take a clone from a flowering plant, then put it on a 18/6 or 24/7 schedule? Or do I take a clone before flowering and it's a guaranteed female?? Just cant quite figure it out, any help appreciated!:leaf:

ok startin to make sense now. but if I take a clone during veg, how will I know if it's male or female? do I switch the light to 12/12 and wait for pre-flowers before I take the clone? then take it, and put on a veg light cycle? thanks for the help! :)

oh yea, one of the plants I want to clone is a clone itself, but was takin from a flowering plant so it has some pistils and a calyx here and there. I think I'm just gonna put it under a veg light cycle and wait for it to revert and let it get a little bushier before flowering. would this work?

yes u can revert back to veg, and u should before trying to take more clones..also let them grow a little so they are stable enough to take cuttings from. every time u clone a plant, the clone will be the same as the mother so if your plants are females then all clones from that plant will also be female.

This is how I do it. I take a clone from each plant and put them straight to flowering and be sure to tag them so you know which mother the clone came from. Once you see the male/female signs in the clones then you know what the mothers are male or female. Then you can do whatever you want. Kill the male, or keep them for breeding purpose.

It is pain in the ass waiting to find out which is which if you put the mothers in flower and switch them back to veg. I suggest using clones to test out the sexes. Good luck:bigjoint:

I own the bible as well. A good read.

just took two clones off a female permafrost clone given to me by a friend (possibly alaskan thunderfuck, but not 100% sure) and got em in rockwool. gonna get em under a humidity dome and put em under a couple CFLs for 24/7 here in a bit

Yes =] you can let it go as far as you want and the longer you wait the more cuttings you can take.

damn! so I put it on a 18/6 lighting schedule, and its seriously double in size in three days! i'll toss some pics up here, or maybe start a journal. but the root growth has been amazing, DWC has been treating me nicely:bigjoint:
