I just cut some clones so I put them under flouro lights for 24hrs a day is that cool for them. What way is best for them to root ?

That's what i did with my clones and now they're about 10" on a 24/hr cycle. I would say couple of days to heal and establish new root growth before going into vegging.

Ideally:

I have a t5 over a plastic dome and clone bed. I use rootech to ensure root growth... I leave them in 12 days before potting so roots get good and strong.

Also use bed for germinating. Good investment...$40 tops.

Ok I'm on tha same track cool I don't have a seperate room they r n my veggie room with tha moms so a 24hr cycle for a wk or 2 won't hurt tha moms jus make them grow faster and taller right?

Yeah, they should be fine. At this point, your focus is more on root development than leaf growth. Remember to mist the leaves, as there are no roots to absorb nutrients. Only leaves. So keep leaves moist and humidity fairly high. Ligts 24/0. I spray the sides of the dome with a little mist, and when it's dry, I know to re-sprary. =). Post pics and keep us updated!

EDIT: wait your moms are on a 24/0 light plan? Not necessary, if not bad for plant. Get them on 18/6. Plants use the darkness as a time to rest and grow/develop. If a plant is absorbing light 24 hours a day, it gets no time to re-coup. Even a crack head needs sleep, my friend. + this will help your electricity bill.

Ok, I had moms on a 18/6 after 1 mo I put them on 21/3 they grew alot, but I need 24 hr for root growth but I don't have room to seperate the light schedule

How big is the mother? Can you put a paper grocery bag over top the mom for the extra 6 hours, or move her into a light-tight closet for a bit?

Yah, what Jerry Garcia said. It's tricky having plants in different stages of growth, and you find yourself adapting to their time schedule. Because if you try and make them adapt to yours...well...they'll die.

This sound like a contradiction to me because if "Plants use the darkness as a time to rest and grow/develop." why should clones be put under 24/0 if they need a darkness to develop root. BTW i never cloned or tried it and im not saying your wrong. its just wired. :eyesmoke:

Well, typically a plant with roots can absorb nutrients from the soil, while collecting what it needs from light. In this way, it's absorbing through roots while using up built in nutrients to thrive at night. As a clone has no roots, its only source is via light...thus 24/0. As I said, in cloning the focus is strengthening the roots, not the leaf.

That spare bedroom closet should work fine...just keep it dark!

Good luck!

24 hour lighting is fine. my oldest current mom is about 4 years old, in a 3g bucket, 24 hour lighting the WHOLE time. 24/0 just means more growth and a higher power usage.

new growth comes from the nodes below where you cut (ie, those new leaves)
