Clones

Hi everyone, I'm planning on buying some clones soon but I'm getting them 40 minutes away from my home. I heard you could store them in water (just stems of course) until you were ready to put them in rooters.. would this work for the drive home if they were kept secure? or should i just put them into rooters right there?

yessir, you'd be golden to just stick them down in a small plastic bottle full of water. Might want to go ahead and apply some root hormone before you put them in. You won't have to worry about root-rot in a short span like that. What kind are they going to be?

Thanks alot for your reply, I'm not sure yet what kind I'll be getting as I just found someone to buy them off of and he hadn't mentioned the strains. Hopefully they root well. :)

do you have to have root hormone to grow clones. i have a mother plant and im on a low budget but would like to cut some clones. could i just cut em and throw em in soil and hope for a .001% chance that it might grow?

Hey, actually I just saw one guy throw them in a cup of ph'd water and in 4 days he had roots. But in all seriousness, just go to wal-mart and buy a cloning hormone. I got one for like 6$ canadian and it will last me like 50 clones it looks like. Just suck it up and pay the 5$ :)

rootone is a very inexpensive rooter and it works fine. only downside is that its in powder form.

Normally you pay for clones that are already rooted and are in a medium. That's the whole point of spending the money on them. What if they all die? There goes your money. You can try it but I would find someone that actually sells you clones with roots. That's how it has to be.

No, you don't need any kind of root hormone but it ups your success rate exponentially. Good humidity and temp control is key to rooting clones without any kind of hormone.
