Clones Live But Do Not Root

What are you holding them in the cups with? Otherwise its the roots that you have to worry about, but pulling them out long enough to check them won't bother them.

I use rapid rooters and Xnutrients mx clone gel. I take an aluminum skewer (big nail) and ream out the hole in the rapid rooter plug. I then use an eye dropper put one drop of cloning gel down in the plug. Next I cut the clones with a clean xacto blade and place in water. Each one is three to five inches in length. I take each clone and clip the leaves off the node closest to the cut. I take the xacto and scrap the outer cortex of the stem gently to abrade the surface including the denuded node (about an inch in length). I then cut the end at a 45 degree angle and dip the stem in the cloning gel making sure the area is well coated and I place the clone in the rooter plug. They are placed under a dome and put on top of my T-5 4-plex for warmth. I have a 2nd T-5 2-plex about 18 inches above the dome. They are in that state for three or 4 days when I transplant them into 16 oz cups. I removed the grid tray and place them back under the dome. Over the next three or four days I open the 'valves' wider and wider decreasing the humdity. When the dome is dry I pull them and put them in the veg area. I've had 100% success since I adopted this method.

I would like to point out so as no person is confused. A dome and a mini-greenhouse are the same basic concepts. The only thing that I've noticed about alot of the prefab domes are that the air slots are located on top. For cloning the airslot idealy is a drain/air hole. If this is not possible the airhole can be located max 1.5" from the bottom of the dome/mini-greenhouse.

I like the idea of a drop of gel in the hole. I'll try that.
