just under two cflsHow strong a light do you have over them? Too strong and they want to veg. I start mine under weak fluoros. They just need enough light to that they know to grow and if not too strong they put out roots before trying to veg.
They should start yellowing from the bottom up eventually if they have no roots at all.
That's about what I use starting about 6" away. Depending on temps can take a couple weeks before they start yellowing at the bottom then I give them a "tug test" and they're usually rooted. Using a DIY bubble cloner now so easy to see if there's roots or not.
