Clone 2 weeks old no roots?????

Okay so, i was given a pretty white widow clone placed in rockwool and submerged in water. 2 days after i got i noticed it had spider mites., i didnt want it to infect my other plants. so in my absents my boyfriend thought he should treat it. well he almost killed it. the leaves where wilted badly and some leaves where brown but, free of mites lol. i decided i would try and save it. i clip off most leave and kept very few leaves that where the better ones. so to my surprise the plantstarted to come back. for every new leaf that came in i clipped a bad one off. i worked it almost al the way back. but i notice in all of this time no roots are showing. when i realized the plant inside of the rockwool is sitting in standing water. so i just took it out and have the wet rockwool standing. so question is should i put it back inside of the cup of water or leave it out with just the wet rockwool??? by the way the clone is like 2 weeks old. "NO ROOTS":wall::wall:

Yes be sure to wait a day between watering your small rockwool cubes it will force the roots to look for water and poke out

thanks so much. i cant believe its still alive after sitting in water and my bf killing all of the leaves, but i couldnt understand why no roots. then i dawned on me that it was sitting in standing water lol. so that is why it dosn't have roots rite? because it was in water?

I've never done any reading into clones, but I know plants grow roots to find water, if it has enough water very little if any roots will be made. You have to find a balance of wet and not wet

To be honest, the standing water is what almost killed it, not your boyfriend. Overwatering can be a HUGE problem, especially for a plant that isn't even considered a plant yet (in most minds).

i feel ya. make total sense. i had my own clone that i was rooting and i had it in moist rockwool it did great. my friend with more experience took it. but when the person gave me the white widow clone in water i thought maybe he knew best because he has more experience so i left it in the water. but now that i think about it. he was not home at the time his girlfried gave it to me, so i am thinking she took it upon her self to place it in the water trying to make it look cute lol. i thought my friend did it and he knows more then me so i left it how it was given lmao "STONER ALERT"

i believe you, its all becoming very clear to me. so i took it out the rockwool is soaked. it needs to dry out a little so i give it an extra day without water before i water it. hopefully she will grow up to be a big beautiful white widow. hey by the way. when should i give the clone nutes? thanks alot

Wait until it gets pretty damn dry. You're gonna think "man that's pretty dry", wait like 12 more hours and then water it. You can start (I start) giving a cloning (rooting) solution from the very first watering. It's a very light nutrient though. I start adding nutrients (use FFOF soil now instead of veg nutes) whenever I plant the rooted clone into dirt (if you're going with soil).

But yeah, NEVER leave a plant sitting in still water like that. It's a sure fire way to lose it.

yeah i would die if i lose her because she is beautiful and she fought so hard to come back from the spidemites treatment but never went anywhere after that. yeah i let it get very dry. but i only have one kind of nutes i got it from homedepot when i brought the soil. i dont kow if its any good. its..... ---Vigoro-All Purpose plant food 10-10-10---feeds all plants fast---dual feeding for faster results--ideal for atering cans----1/2 capful makes 2 gallons.... on the back it says....total nitrogin 10%...1.5% ammonial nitrogin....1.5 nitrate nitrogin....7.0%urea nitrogin.......available phophate (p2o5) 10% ......soluble potash (K2o) 0.10% .,,,iron(fe)...0.10% chelated magnanese .....zinc0.50%.....is this good?
