Hey everyone.
I started my first DWC a couple weeks ago. Its a Chocolope Kush Feminized from DNA.
I have it in a 5 gallon (20L) home depot bucket. 5 inch pot. I have 17L of water in the bucket.
Its is tap water. The PH of the tap water is 7.4-7.6!!
I have a large air pump (for 110 gallon aquarium) 2 hoses and 2 six inch airstones. Lots of air and bubbles in the water.
I had alot of problems with PH my last grow, which was soil and organic, using General Organics BioThrive lineup and CalMag.
Im using Advanced Nutrients PH Perfect this time in my soil plants and Hydro. It is working miracles on the soil plants, very impressed with it, have not had ANY ph issued this time with the soil plants.
Sensi Grow A+B PH Perfect
1ML/L seedlings
2ML/L small plants 3-4 sets of leaves
4ML/L vegging plants
No PH adjustment or PPM or EC test needed, supposedly.
First few days of growth i had just straight tap water with 1ML/L of the Sensi Grow A+B.
It was growing ok at first, day 4 it started getting some rust spots.
I did a water change and same thing 1ML/L of Sensi and nothing else.
No new rust spots for few days, then i noticed it on the next set of leaves up.
Did a water change again. I added 2ml/L of nutes, and a wee bit of General Organics CalMag.
Next day it was way worse so i started over, i tried using just organic nutrients (BioThrive Grow 1/4 dose) and 1ml/L PH Perfect.
Made it worse. Roots are all brown now, sludge on them and in the bucket, dont kn ow why.
Cleaned off roots and flushed the rockwool and pot out, did not break or damage any roots :-) , washed out the bucket. I found out i should have H2O2 in the water.
This time I added 1 tablespoon (15ml) of 3% peroxide to the bucket, put in 17L of water, PH;d the water to 6 using Advanced Nutes PH Down. I added 3ML/L of ph perfect. Used a PH paper to test PH, its between 5-6, not sure exactly but its within range when all was added and mixed.
I have more and new rust spots and still getting worse. :-(

Am i doing something wrong? :dunce:
Maybe a bad batch of nutes?
Should i try bottled water to see if it makes a difference?
Do i need something else in the bucket? I dont really know much about it, cant find a definitive answer on what to put in the reservoir. Maybe i need Tarantula or Jungle Juice? Should i manually adjust the PH all the time? I was hoping i wouldnt have to because thats what the PH Perfect is for.
Im 90% sure its a PH lockout problem, its definitely not burn from too much nutes, its the same thing that was happening to a few of my soil plants from PH problems last grow.
My air temps are 76-82 lights on and 70-75 lights off. My water temps are a little higher than i would like but theres TONS of air going through. I have 600W HPS, cooltube reflector, Exhaust from the cooltube out, intake for cool air in, and a circulation fan. 4x4x7 tent. CO2. Bucket is all blacked out, no light leaks in the bucket that i know of.
The other stuff i have on hand if i need it or something is; General Organics BioThrive Grow, GO BT Bloom, GO CalMag, SensiGrow A+B, Adv. Nutes PH Down, Molasses, Cane Sugar, 3% h2o2.
Any help would be great, I dont know how much longer she is gonna last and i want to try to save her. If i cant within the next couple of days ill have to transplant her to soil and try again lol.
Heres some pics of the plant, and the rest of the grow too.

looks like it could be a calcium deficiency..i run between 1 to 2 ml per gallon of cal mag regardless of the nutes i'm using, and haven't had that problem in yrs.

i just saw your running molasses..thats a big no no! only time you wanna run a sweetner is in the last stage of flower, and most of us run a synthetic, but never molasses!

U r for sure doing something wrong. you can't put any of that organic shit in your dwc buckets. Clean everything up and only synthetics in your buckets. I personally recommend the exact opposite for your soil only organic there but any of that in dwc is asking for problems.
I would also read the sticky on this forum root slime cure breeding beneficial microbes its a life saver or plant saver i guess lol

Im not actually using the molasses, i just have it from my soil grows. Going to add some calmag to the mix and change the water again.
Ive only ever used the molasses in my organic soil grows for the last few weeks of flowering, maybe week4-7/8.
I plan on using Advanced Nutrient blooming products this time around. Any advice on what products i should use?
peace

Ya the organic is all out of the bucket. Going to change it out again, ph the water to 5.5, add the H2O2, some CalMag, and the Sensi Grow Ph Perfect.
And the soil grows i would definitely prefer to use my organic stuff, but no matter what i did last time i couldnt keep the PH down it was always OVER 7.6. Even using phosphoric acid it would only keep it down for a couple hours lol. My water here is high PH and im thinking it has lots of chlorine in it, they just removed the flouride usage in my area in the water.
Usiing the PH perfect in the soil seems to be working good. Can i use PH perfect AND a different (gen org. Biothrive)organic nutes in the soil plants?

I will go and buy some of the beneficial microbe stuff tomorrow. And i just checked the roots out on the plant, they look good now, lots of growth on them today and they are white.
Hopefully this will do the trick.
