Chilli Mushrooms first grow

Hi, A few things have fallen into place and after many years of hoping I am finally able to start my first grow. I have no experience with growing mj, in fact the only thing I have ever grown from seed was a chilli plant which got attacked by green fly.

This will be a closet set up with dimensions of L = 1m, W = 0.8m, H = 2.55m

I have a dimmable ballast 400/600w as I am a little concerned about the temps. I cannot afford an extractor fan at the moment so im hoping with a couple of desk fans and the door open I can keep the temps down and the air circulating.

My nutrients are all from Dyna Gro: pro tekt 0-0-3, bloom 3-12-6, grow 7-9-5, mag pro 2-15-4. I decided on Dyna Gro after reading the excellent grow journal of Homebrewer.

My plan for the future is to either convert the bottom third of the closet so i can use it for veg and cuttings, or only use the space to grow two or three plants but extend the veg time to make use of the height I have.

For future grows I will be sticking with only one breed of plant at a time, but for this grow as I am experimenting I have decided to use a selection of freebies all of which are feminised. All seeds were left overnight in tap water (ph unknown at the moment) and placed in soil the following day, October 3rd (03/10/12)

Humboldt Seed Organisation: blue dream, trainwreck, chemdawg
World of Seeds: mazar kush, afghan kush special
Reserva Privada: sour kush
Delicious Seeds: cheese candy, cotton candy
G13 Labs: og13, pineapple express (Auto)
The 7 Dwarfs Seeds: trojan (Auto)
Short Stuff: blue himilayan diesel (Auto)

I will be updating as often as possible, there will be some modifications to the closet on Tuesday, so hopefully I will have something to show you then. Please feel free to make comments, I am new to this and have much to learn, thanks
please note the title is chilli mushrooms first grow as I use chilli mushroom as my handle on two other sites and it just saves confusion using it here.

I saw another thread where somebody had a plant in clear containers with no drainage as an experiment, the plants were stunted. The experiment, was that after growth for a few months the stunted ones had holes punched for drainage and the clear plastic covered, growth improved. Just a tip for your clear plastic containers.

Hi Writtin, thanks for the heads up, Ive decided to transplant into black plant pots. The seeds in the clear pots have only just sprouted so I am going to give them a few days and then transplant over.

Just a heads up, you wont be using too much bloom while growing in the dirt. Its N value is too low to maintain healthy leaves. 1/2 tsp of protekt and grow (mix in that order) should do well for vegging plants with a few nodes on them. Roughly double that for flower and maybe hit them with a 50/50 mix of grow/bloom a few times when your plants are green and healthy from top to bottom. Good luck!

If you have any questions about the plant food dosage in dirt, check out my current grow (Classic Seeds grow journal) in my signature.

Thanks HB, that Classic Seeds grow is looking very healthy and inspiring.

I picked up a ph pen today and I am currently just reading up on using it. Tomorrow Im going to transfer the seedlings in clear pots into 6.5l black pots. The three plants directly under the 125w cfl, (light I am using for seedlings) have really took off and I may attempt a light feeding for these.

For the seedling stage I am using one 125w cfl and two 25w cfl's on 24/7. The plants not directly under the 125 have begun to stretch, but I will fix this tomorrow when I repot and start using the hps lamp.

OK, so its been two weeks since my last post. I was delayed in transplanting from the clear pots and this has caused some stunted growth in a few of the plants. After transplanting I gave a light feeding, which was a mistake on my part and lead to some nute burn.
They are all now under 400w hps, there was some stretching so I lowered my light.
