Okay well...Hi, welcome to my thread! :bigjoint:

Ever since I found this website I have always wanted to see a day by day growing of a Bubblepoinc system but I have only found one which is strange but whatever I have decided to make one myself!

I will give you the background to why I decided to do this in the first place even though you probably don't want to hear it. I live here in Chicago and my next door neighbor decided to see if one of his seeds that he got out of his stash would grow outside so he stuck it in the ground and didn't do squat with it. Low and behold a couple months later he had a plant but as the winter months came around he had totally forgot about it so I decided to go outside and dig it up so it wouldn't freeze to death. I moved the plant indoors for about a month and a half before he came over and saw it sitting in the sunlight, which then he went over to it and ripped it right out of the pot and stuck it in the bag and said "thanks" and walked out the door. I was so pissed off that I decided that I was going to grow my own.

I went out and bought a black toat as you see below, drilled 6 holes into it, bought all the accessories for a hydroponic set up since it was much cheaper then buying one off the internet and set it up.

I went on Nirvana.com and looked at each seed to see which one I wanted to try and finally decided to go with the Medical White Rhino. We actually had to wait over a month and a half for it to come because when it got here the name on the address wasn't the one that matched the stupid mailbox so it got sent all the way back to Amsterdam thanks to 9/11. ANNNNNYWHO, I finally got my seeds on January 29th and planted them on the 30th. Of course we tested out the system with some random seeds like tomatoes and basil cause we didn't want the real seeds being the first try.

So....this is going to be my grow diary and anyone is always welcome to comment or give constructive critisism. It is actually encouraged.

Enjoy!

Okay well, here is the day that I planted them (January 30th 2009).

I think the wost part about growing your own is that you have to wait.

I made notes about growing everyday and I will put those in here just so everyone knows exactly what I do:

01/30/09
11:00am - Planted the seeds
82 Degrees in rockwool
6.5 PH balance
5" Light distance
5 Gallons distilled water
18 Hours with lumens on 6 hours off
Every 5.5 hours plants get watered 1/2 hour a day

I know I'm sort of annal about this stuff but it's better to be safe then sorry right???

Yours truly-

Alright so I know I'm posting all of these all on the same day but I have a good reason! My internet has been down but I have been writing a journal on my computer for a while so... don't be mad!

02/01/2009

1:30pm Holy Cow. Look at them!
80 Degrees in rockwool
6.5 PH added PH down checked 20 mins later was at 4.0PH added 1/4 PH up checked 4.0PH added 1/4PH up finally was 6.0 PH (god that was scary)
5" Light Distance

It was a nightmare, I saw that I wanted my PH balance between 5.5PH and 6.5PH so I followed the directions on the bottle to the T to get it to 5.0 and it dropped like the A Bomb. Whatever it's all good now. No damage seems to been done thank God.

I'm going to the moon and taking the stairs-

Okay so I actually missed a couple days of taking pictures but I still have the data from all the other days and I told you that I was going to keep you informed! So read it or don't haha.

02/02/2009
12:00pm 1cm tall 4 leafs
82 degrees in rockwool
6.0 PH
2" Light Distance
Added foil around dome and tenting foil over plants with 2 vents on top. (Don't worry I made sure to use the dull side until my mylar comes)

I'm thinking about adding Bloom Lumen for more light but keeping 18 hours on 6 off.

02/03/2009
12:00pm 2cm tall 4 leafs 2 pointed 2 oval
78 Degrees in rockwool
6.0 PH
Added Bloom Lumen 2" Light distance as well

If you got 'em smoke 'em!

Alright back to picture posts! Woot. It's weird I look at them and they don't look THAT much different but they totally are once you get down and actually look close. It's amazing how plants grow like that.

02/04/2009
12:00pm 2 cm tall 4 leafs 2 pointed 2 oval 2 wee ones right in the middle!
75 degrees in rockwool
6.3PH
82 Degree h2o/85 degree air
Added PC processor fan to make sure that the little buddies grow strong and not so thin.
9:00pm
80 Degree h2o/ 85 degree air

Up In Smoke!

Alright! Well today was the first time I have seen roots! Very big step for little plants everywhere! And as requested I have added more pictures of my set up. I mean its not much but still very cool device and LOVE how it works.

02-05-2009
12:00 pm 1.5" tall wee ones are pointed as well.
80 degree h2o/ 85 degrees air/79 fan

We have one of those little heater fans and its working out great! Not only does it warm up the water inside the system but of course it also warms the air around it. But I read like last week that the humidity is supposed to be stupid high and I'm not quite sure how to get it there. I have a glass of water sitting in front of the fan to make sure at least some water is getting into the air but I'm sure it's not enough. Any Ideas?

Thanks Buddy! I hope the same to yours as well!

thanks for the pics. Im now even more curious than before. at first i thought this was a dwc but looking at it i would say its a bubbleponic system and the blue things are feeder tubes correct?

you said you built this yourself?

im a little confused on how the whole thing works

Okay well here is the easiest way to describe what I have done.

I got a black toat, drilled six 3" holes in the top for the net pots. I bought a submersible water pump and placed in on the inside bottom of the toat and connected a six way splitter to it so the water would be delivered to each individual plant at the same time. I also bought a 13 inch air stone and attached it to the bottom of the toat in the water so all the plants would get fresh O2. There is an air pump outside of the toat which then connects to the air stone. I have two different timers one for feeding the water through the tubes to the plants every 5.5 hours for a 1/2 each time, and the other timer is used to turn on and off the sunlight. I know that reading this might be a little confusing cause it sure as hell confused me trying to write it out so others could understand. haha. Alright hope that answered it!

Icepick...nah this isnt a DWC....DWC is a little less complicated...
Love, dont want those nute temperatures getting above 80....want them cooler. That heat breeds algea, which can cause root rot. Cool, not cold water temps, 80 relevent temps and lower humidity for vegging plants. (Lower humidity will "supposedly" produce more females) Same with lower res temps.
