i'm already planning to use my malawi gold as a male in my first winter grow and figure the "tart cherry" buddha's sister indica should have the most interesting flavor to breed for to use the cross as my male in the second grow i was planning for flavor strains like blue dream, sweet haze, BS x malawi BX, C99 x blueberry & pinapple chunk and maybe a lucky orange pheno jillybean.
i think i'll try to maintain a cloned mother of buddha's sister to back cross to for potentially more cherry flavor to breed with. if there's any strain i'd like to select for with the genes i already have, it's a cherrybomb haze 2.0 (the other cherrybomb was an indica) it would be nice to see some serious pheno expression in a back cross to select from. that would be preserving at least some newer IBLs than all the tired hazes out there. sour cherry and sweet pineapple sounds potentially delicious and the sweet fruity sweet haze should balance the 2x sour strains as well as re-enforce whatever trippiness the afghani dominant genes of BS negate making something nicer than skunk #1.
i'd expect the malawi to assert itself more as a male breeder just as females are chosen as daughter breeders, but if that produces a better buzz if not flavor, all the better.
anyone here think buddha's sister x malawi BX would suck? well, not counting pheno expression for those who insist on stabilized strains. if anything, it should offer a nice range of potential buds to select from. i like the "no G13 haze" sound of pure (?) malawi better than the sound of the G13 haze cross already out there for quality if not yield. back crossing it to malawi too should be an interesting 75% IBL. if skunk #1 is better than that, i'd be surprised. lemon skunk? that'd be a closer call, but i'd hope the malawi proves trippier, at least to make something more like a good jack herer. i still have a couple BS x G13 haze regular beans left, but it's been a few years without refrigeration. i'd like to BX that for the hybrid vigor if nothing else.
i've already bred with both cinderella and cindy apollo already, so i'd like to save some new genetics too.
