Chemdawg the Colorado Legend....

Hey everyone!
This is my first thread in the CO patients forum but I have many on RIU.

This specific thread is in reference to the CO born strain Chemdawg and all it's crosses and lineage. If you're familiar with these strains or simply just know the names or appreciate the specific medicine, this is the place for you. An for those who may not know anything about "the chem" family...

So for all you seasoned CO growers with any reference or knowledge of these strains please share your knowledge and experience.

I will start...

My first introduction to the chem family was when I was working for a CO wholesale MMJ facility working the mother room. For those who don't know about the commercial side of cannabis production this is the most important and valuable focal point of any good grow. Flowering them out is simply the fun part.

Anyway I was responsible for providing 4-5, 200-400light grows (yes 800-2000 1k lights total) the clones to fill their flower rooms when they came down. This equated to roughly 1,200-2,000 clones a month, I ran 8x 120site ezcloners (double collared they hold 240 each) and kept a back up of 10x 50site domes on heat mats as a back up to any cloner issues, or as surplus to the dispensaries to sell to the patients.

It was part of my job to go to each grow, talk the growers, figure out who was running what, and collect any cuts worthy to add to the mother room. When all was said and done I had over 120 separate strains and 2 moms of each running. This was an incredibly inefficient management of genetic variety so I was given the task of culling them down.
Got them down to about 50, and here's where the chem family comes into play...
One of the best indoor organic growers had brought in cuts that have been hiding away in the Boulder and Gilpin counties. I received them labeled as such:
ChemDawg
Chemdawg MassSuper Skunk
Chem BX3
ChemSIS
Chem Diesel

Out of all of these, what was labeled the Chemdawg Mass SuperSkunk was the highest yielding, frostiest most resin covered bud. Smelling of what could only be described as a mix of chemical solvent, diesel, slightly sweet pine, with a heavy fire kush finish. I have a few outdoor and indoor, and they are looking fatter than anything else atm. Not to mention the CDSS smells like it fathered the starfire and whitefire crosses in the same garden. Making me think this is possibly either the original "Chem 93", or the infamous "Chem 91 Skunk VA".

After all, the chemdawg is said to be the origin of all things diesel and "og kush"...

Whats your thought on Chemdog autos?

I have no experience with chem autos only autos themselves, which have always left me wanting more from a plant. I have no need for an auto-flowering strain but if one does and it is truly chem then sweet, I'd say go for it.

Generally though auto's are specifically for stealth or super short growing periods, which if I had the latter I would do a light dep with non-autoflowering strains.

After all the auto-flowering characteristic is bred from cannabis ruderalis, native to siberia. Able to flower under 24hrs daylight.

These are around 7 1/2 ft tall and hard to get good photos of being that tall. Still a few wks to go and I'd trade this strain for anything diesel I've ever grown!

This is like finding the book of origins! og lemon diesel chem is what it's like with a subtle burn your notrils rocket fuel type of lingering...

Wow nice looking buds for sure, haven't had much experience with Chem. We do have some Tahoe 91 seeds that we have popped from Homebrew420. They might make it into our next flower round.

Nice! I love the tahoe og, though I've found it tends to herm out some even if conditions are perfect. Tahoe 91 sounds killer keep us posted if you get a nice fem. I am drastically reducing the amount of strains I run as this greenhouse and indoor run have been a test for next yrs outdoor.

I also have about a lb of SFV OG Kush that has been pollinated with a fem master kush. The MK was pushed to wk 10 1/2 and stressed into herming and intentionally seeding my sfv mother stock to provide me seeds for the greenhouse next yr, and also a nice side project to this winters indoor gardens. This is the breeding method SOMA is fond of for creating feminized seed stock, vs using chems (PUN INTENDED!) to reverse sex a female plant.

I had an NYCDiesel (soma's) cut about 6 yrs ago that would finish in 49 days! It was the fabled fast flowering sativa pheno, and was my personal headstash for 3 yrs. The only thing that could match that flavor now even remotely is the tangerine haze but hardly touches the soaring creative sativa high!

What can you tell us about TRES Dawg? Its supposed to be an offshoot of chem or something.
I'm a chem LOVER and although I havent found a keeper for my garden Ive been hunting a cross of it for a long long time.

Sah the first thing that came to mind on tres dawg that I'm familiar with is Reservoir Seeds Chem Bx3, said to be the most stable of all chem seed stock. Although a quick search on seedfinder.eu has this to say about the "Legendary" Tres Dawg:

The chem diesel I saw was more sour d-ish then ecsd/chem, lacking a distinction between diesel and sort of chemmy... the chem sister was incredible and very much like true Island Sweet Skunk but tended to go a little to long for the commercial grows, and sadly had to be cut at work before I got to smuggle free the strains I have today.

Running a Chem SIS, waiting on my Chem 4 to root and put a order in with a good bud for the Chem 91. That Chem Super Skunk sounds like a keeper! How long does run in flower?

Looking good. That CDss does sound great. The chem i ran was good. Don't know what exact cut it is but from clone.

indipow! this chemdawgsuperskunk IS a keeper! Commercially I've seen it cut at wk 6! BUT in a TRUE med garden she will push to wk 8 and 9 depending on how you like your trichs.
Though she gets super weighty off synthetics and easily looks harvestable at wk 7! Hence the commercial preme harvests...

Pepe! There are quite a bit of chem cuts floating around, half the battle is figuring out what you have. I believe this CDSS is going to be taking up at least 1/4 of all my outdoor next yr as it is quite remarkable and yields extremely well in comparison to the original chem 91, but with definitive chem lineage.

The 7ft ladies outside under the sun smell like everything lemon-pine kush and diesely all rolled into one!

I do want to make sure I'm on the record as saying the chem family is not the end all be all of cannabis strains.
As everyone knows there is much fire to grow and toke and keep in the stable.
However my palate has always leaned toward 1. potency 2. flavor (kushy vs fruity vs diesely etc) 3. Weight 4.bag appeal

The only strain I have atm that doesn't yield exquisitely is GranddaddyKong, but is by far top two contender for potency.

However I am a weed nerd and a med patient/caregiver and have been growing and around growing lifestyle for over a decade.
Being from CO and deciphering the breeders path has always been of interest, especially with how many of these phenom genetics came to be before CO even had an MMJ scene!

Therefor this is the place to retrace those steps and welcome anyone along the way to join on this Chemdawg adventure!

I'm still waiting for someone to come forward and say, " I have been hiding under a rock for over a decade, here is everything you want to know. I have chemdawg super skunk also, let us compare and share the knowledge of this remarkable strain."

Thought I would post a pick of the Tahoe 91 from HB420 Seeds, they are coming along nicely.

i loved my chem x mss and the sister and the 91 and the reunion pheno.
but my best ant only keeper of the perfect flower ridden bunch (read hermie) is the DAYWRECKER cut or A.J. (asshole joe cut....
just cut a few this week and my drying room kinda makes me sick . my girl wont even trim or smoke it due to the power!!!!
it was sourced out of nyc what it really could be is anyones guess . is supposed to be mss x chem x dnl??

Would be interesting to find the weed originally sourced from colorado. Find the background on that strain.
