Chem D (elemental wellness cut)

The cut is from elemental wellness in San jose and i will be growing it full season outdoors in norcal. I haven't heard any reports of the legitimacy of this cut, but the stem rub is very chemy/pine/lemon/earthy/woody and it has already shown some "variegation" as a stressed baby during hardening off. She seems a little "old"... not as old as my chem91 cut, but there is a sense that she is not as vigorous as cuts from newer genetics.

when you say variegation do you mean these claw type deals. i always get them on my dinachems and only on dinachems. read its some sort of genetic mutation found in chem lines but some say tmv or some stuff. i find that hard to believe as it doesnt transmit to other plants growing side by side sharing the same trays etc.

Yeah, agreed, doesn't seem to be transmissable based on prior reports and progeny express, so seems genetic. It wasn't just the leaf margins, but yeah it was somewhat similar. It didn't show until it was stressed.

mine was doing it without any stress, all of them that has shown it were showing it while growing vigorously. its strange. do you find any relation between quality and potency positive or negative? can this expression be considered an indicator of anything in your opinion/experience.

got pics of yours?

No, I don't have a pic of the variegation, I actually got nervous and replaced the clone with a fresh cut; I didn't want to start out the full term under such a stressed state. I've got the new cut in the shade for at least a week before giving her any full sun. Here is a pic of the fresh cut. I will post more pics as the season goes on...would be great if I don't see the variegation again, but I'm guessing we will see it at some point during the long season.

i always see it even when there is no stress. do you think its a stress related issue because its been doing this to me for 5 years and s1s are doing it too even when they are perfect health. now the pic i posted there shows minimal tip burn but i’d say its very still happy overall and when the variegation first started showing there wasnt any tip burn or any stress afaik. still i’m interested to see what you’re gonna find out during this grow. i love my dinachem, its the only chem i’ve ever smoked but i love it. its very uplifting and happy like a sativa with minimal body effect. thats the kind of high i like :)

I will keep you updated. I'm not an expert on chem D, and this is my first grow of her. From what I've gathered reading threads about her here and elsewhere, it seems to be related to calcium and possibly mag def. When I received the 1st cut, it wasn't showing, then after a week of stress, she showed it. So at least for the cut I have, it seems stress related. If your cut is a no body effect, then I'm guessing it's not a true expression of chem d..again based on what I've read, not personal experience....how long do you let her go?

the genetic make up of this is a little different again this is from what i read too but its a more sativa pheno called the guava cut (is it stardawg?). well anyway its a cross of chem 91 and the guava cut or guavachem as per breeders description. its a more sativa leaning cultivar but from what i read about the terpene profile of chems the smell is spot on except for a bit of fruit brought in by the guava. i find my original mother to be at its peak harvest period at 80 days+. can go a little longer but as i said i dont like heavy body effects.

this is my original dinachem at day 75ish it could have gone a lot longer for some but was just perfect in smell and effect close to day 80 for me
