cheese quake TGA

After moving house, i am back up and running, this time with a cheese quake bean from TGA

will be trying my second attempt at mainlining with this plant, it will be grown 100% organic, bar the lighting, in ss under cfls (need to upgrade these to hps soon.)

Anyone have any advice on the ratio/% of ss needed for cheese quake?

she is now a couple of weeks old, and has just started to recover from me letting her get root bound in her starter pot.

enjoy and peace riu

FYI- All of my CheeseQuake seedlings showed sex at around day 28 or so WITHOUT putting them into 12/12. I'd recommend avoiding the stress of flip-flopping the light cycles and just let them show on their own.

Cheese Quake was fun to grow. You're gonna love it.

I don't use super soil, but I make my own soil that I would guess is somewhat similar and I have found cheesequake to be a very forgiving plant to work with. Very hardy and easy to grow. I have yet to burn/shock/stunt a single cheesequake plant over the past couple years that I've had it in my garden. Seems to be able to handle whatever is thrown at her.

Thanks for that man, yeah i was reading some stuff online today
and as usual the opinion was divided but it did sound like it was a lot of stress to flip light cycles and im not in position to have clones.... this is only my third run so i have not had any experience with reg beans before... this means ive had no practical experience looking for male pre flowers

any idea what im looking for and how early they can be spotted as in do i need some thing to magnify etc to spot really early?

Cheese Quake was fun to grow. You're gonna love it... yeah it definitely seems to want grow a lot more than my two previous fem grows ha just rapid growth praying for a female

Also what lights are you using, as im only using cfl at the moment so... possibly if you were hid this could influence sexual maturity quicker?

You will see what looks like "hairs" at the node (where the petiole/leaf stem meets the stalk) if it's a female. If it's a male you will see little pod-like balls forming in that same spot. If you can post up pics as you go along we can help you out.

Do you have names picked out? :-)

Roor- They were vegged under T5 fluoro lighting.

I wasn't meaning to say anything catastrophic would happen if you flipped the light cycle to sex them. Just wanted to point out that those things will likely show sex pretty soon on their own anyway. I personally don't use that method; I generally try to avoid any unnecessary changes during the cycle.

Get a 30x or 40x jewelers loupe (little magnifying glass) and keep
a close eye at the base of each new leaf.

Thanks again stow.... yeah wasnt thinking last night... i could just look for female parts haha and if they look any different must be male
yeah ill try snap some shots when i go see her today...

Thanks spicy... yeah i know what you meant.. if i can do it without the stress like you say, its has got to be bettter

Thanks for quicky replies guys and helping a newb out... i just hope i can get through this run without any issues this time.

Peace riu

I have found my cheesequakes to be extremely nute sensative. Anything over half strength feeding of GO ever two weeks and it is not happy. Sub has seen similiar things I saw on weed nerd that he stopped putting CQ in SS. Instead he just went plain roots and top dressed a little SS in Week 4 or 5 of flower. I will be interested to see how it handles your 50/50 SS mix.

Another weekly update......its still not show sex.... day from germ..... has been mainlined for four tops..... however the lower node is becoming more dom at the moment so i am not going to bother cutting it off.... il just try and train it to be the secondary leader so not a true mainline on this one

I've never put a plant into flower in order to sex it. I've grown numerous strains from seed, and oodles of bag seeds. They all show preflowers between 4-6 weeks. I've never understood why people put young plants into flower just to turn around and throw them back into veg. Fucking with their photo-period like that can't be good for them.

All that pruning is likely delaying when you'd see the sex. It usually shows near the top nodes, which you keep cutting off.

Not saying the main-lining is a bad idea, just saying...

ha spot on you guys.....

no i wont be putting into 12/12 after reading some more... the only time i may do it would be with a clone to test for sex.... but not able to do that at the moment so its irrelevant thanks for that though tnjedeye

yeah spicysat... i guess it wont help cutting them off ha.... but no mainlining is the shit thanks to nugz for the great thread! especially for a low cab grow like mine. as you can see from pic though this isnt exactly a true mainline as the lower node was wanting to be just as vigorous so i thought id see what it was like leaving it so not a true mainline but its still going well

and yeah docter... not a single spot of burn at this stage, and its in my modified sub soil mix 50/50 which ill post up, its really starting to bush out now it must be a female ha.. fingers crossed.......

Anyone whos had any experience with cheese quake could you tell me what pheno it looks like i may poss have here
i mean im mainlining/topping so its going to stay short and stout but it doesnt want to grow up at all.... so is this possibly hinting at being a querkle dom pheno if it is female? or is it simply to early to tell? il do some reading on phenos tonight... and see if i can narrow it down... but any with more experience that can chip in would be more than welcome

anyways enjoy B"bongsmilie

crazy thick stocky stalk for this early on in the growth loving my bigger stout pots will have a massive root ball building up in there.....

ill post soil recipe later when i find it

soil recipe (this recipe is for ALL 50L of soil !NOT! JUST WHAT IS IN THE ONE POT)

50l bio bizz all mix
2kg ewc
425g fish blood and bone meal
283g bat guno
170g rock phosphate
1.5tbsp epsom salts
1 tblsp dolomite lime
azomite just mixed a good amount in but still went lightly on it not used it before
3/4tbsp humic acid pwder
300g kelp meal
150g oyster shell
20l coco coir
100g super single phosphate
200g potash

i think this is a nicely ballanced mix with all micro and macro nutirients considered as you can see at, 50% this and 50% normal bio bizz all mix, the cheese quake is loving life
hopefully the mix will only need amending to stay good after each run
anyone got any comments/ recommendations or issues with this mix i want to hear them
you can always learn something new
