Checking credit score

I had my social security number on a form that I know went to a con artist. I need to check my credit score for security reasons.

I do not mind spending money but would prefer it for free. I had read that the 'free' ones try to get all kinds of info off you or otherwise sell you something which you do not want. That sort of thing.

What is a good company to do this with?

I like www.creditkarma.com a lot but I'm not sure what you are exactly looking for. It's free so no harm checking it out.

Thanks, I just want to see if anyone is doing business under my name. I had all my personal info compromised by a asshole that was pretending to be a legit business owner.

You get one free credit report per year from each of the three by federal law.

Free. It's the interagency clearing house for the Big Three credit reporting agencies.





This central site allows you to request a free credit file disclosure, commonly called a credit report, once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

using annual credit report com you can pull a CR from one of the 3 buereas every 4 months free..

you are allowed by law to dispute anything on your CR and you can request one free any time you are denied credit.

to pull one every 4 months you must only pull one at time..

say month 1-4 use transunion

mo 4-8 use experian

etc...


I would suggest using all 3 at first if you are dealing with a ton of cr issues..

The credit reporting agencies suck and will soon be federally watched.. one cr agency may show one thing the other may not..

(did collections for private and gov agencies for 15 years)

may sound kinda odd but have you searched google for the info? I mean your personal info?

some odd stuff may come up on craigslist too.
