Edit: NEW IDEA

Got a nice dresser I boarded the drawers fronts together to make a trick door(it's 4' tall by 2.5' wide by 1.5' deep.

So heres the diagram:

So my question is should i just make half inch inlet holes near the bottom of the dresser where I put those arrows? Or should there be a fan infront? I need to create negative pressure because I want this thing smell proof. Also is my carbon filter design ideal? I know its better if it pulls air than has it pushed so should I have a fan on the outside or just before the carbon filter?

This thing isn't really big enough to have the two grow rooms side by side or ideal veg room on bottom then flower room then utilities on top but 4 feet just doesnt cut it. Any help would be appreciated because I wanna start putting this together I'm very excited. BTW I connected the dressers drawers and made a swinging door. This thing will be so baddass and stealth if its possible with the carbon filter inside somehow!

I would put one hole on the bottom double the size of the exhaust vent. Dont use two since thats double the work as far as light proofing since its part of the flower area. Id suggest making a light proof vent from sheet metal, there was a tutorial somewhere on how to do it. Basically you cut stips of sheet metal and bend then on like a 90 degree angle then stack them on top of each other and paint it flat black. Make sure its flat black or light will still go thru, i can explain it better if you dont understand what i mean

Also you might want to look into ona gel simce its such a small area. If you put a carbon filter in there youd lose alotttt of space even the small carbon filters are big lol

Thanks I might just put the filter on the outside. But is a carbon filter, even a small one, overkill for my setup? I don't know much about ona gel but if it won't affect my plants and can cover the smell like a filter I'll go for it.

But I'm confused on airflow. How strong of a fan do I need going out and say its a 6 inch does that mean my intake hole should be over a foot big? I was imagining several smaller holes but if one big opening is ok I'll do it to make blacking it out easier.

For a setup this small you dont need a 6inch inline fan you can get away with a couple pc fans and a 12 volt adapter. You can make a power supply from an old cellphone charger. If u put a 6inch fan in thwre it will be very loud and as soon as u walk in that room youll hear it. Im saying this because your trying to be stealthy. Hope this helps.

check out my box! holes in the bottom are fine! as far as carbon filter the smell shouldnt be a prob with 2 flowering plants if not invest in one 6 in inductor fan and buy and odorsoc

i have a 400W MH in a box and i have 3 mini personal fans with 2 6in inductor fans and im still having a problem with heat also the 2 fans are not loud and take up lil room

400 watt is pretty big for a "box" lol trying to cool a 400 watt in a box would be tricky. If you have 2 6 inch inductor fans youd be best off using them both for exhaust rather that one for exhaust and one for intake. How do u have the 2 inductor fans hooked up? If you still have a problem woth heat after using both 6 in fans as exhaust youd have to look into a cooltube to cool the light.

Oh and if thats a switichable ballast and you plan on using a 400 watt hos for flower the heat in tere is only going to get worse. Hps is alot hotter than mh.

I predict a portable AC unit or setting the box next to a AC duct or window unit and keep that air flowing when the lights are on. Suggestion, start off with 1 mom plant, keep her small, do as many clones as you can, keep the best 1. Flower 1 plant at a time.

Also I have decided to forget the veg room so I now have a 3 foot growing area and am certainly doing a small carbon filter and high velocity inline fan. Whats a good wattage of HID's to get for two plants in that size space?

they already are both used as exhaust and i have intake holes at the bottem, i plan on probably connecting my hood to one of the fans, and check out my link on my signature i put some pics up of the set up through out
