Hey guys, I was looking around a local thrift shop the other day having picked up some active carbon but couldn't find any pencil cups. So I stumbled upon these kitchen strainers for a buck and thought it would be perfect for my fan setup.

What you need:

2 x Kitchen sift/strainer (local thrift shop) $2.34
1 x Active carbon (local pet shop) $3.46
1 x Black pantyhose (local thrift shop) $2.34
1 x Duct Tape (local thrift shop)

EDIT Total: $9.31 Forgot too add duct tape.

Having such a wide surface area it is more then ample.

Hangs in front of a fan or you can attach ducting to it leading to a fan...I'm only 3 weeks in today but my biggest plant is smelling dank and it's northern lights which I heard was supposed to be smell free...It complete gets rid of all odour...

It will work with any fan but I think bigger ones are better to utilize it to itz full potential. I just lucked out and my fan is the exact same diameter as the splatter strainers...They can be found at dollar stores, trift shops etc.

Activated carbon comes in at least 2 forms. For water use (typical pet store variety) and air use (air purifiers, whole house filters, etc). Both with work with either. But purpose made stuff works best for its intended use.

Also the fan pushing/pulling through the made filter can have a win/lose effect. (ie: PC cooling fans are typically fall in the lose column. Static pressure matters)
