Cheap T5 Lights at Lowes!!

Yes I feel t-12 fluorescent bulbs aren't that good for growing pot. Sure they work ok for vegging and have certainly been used to produce perfectly fine buds. But with t5 and t5ho here there is ample reasons to change over. If you are looking for a low intensity source, t5, t8, and t12 are about the same, but only the 5/8" diameter tubes offer the ability to use such an efficient reflector design. Physics can't be argued with in this case.

Even t5's whop all over t8-t12 when used with a good reflector. Furthermore, being that the plasma inside is so much closer to the phosphors inside, the phosphors excite more brilliantly. This makes them more intense.

Move up to t5ho and see nearly triple the penetration to t12 when using a good reflector on them, for only 14 more watts.

T12's are fine to root clones, grow seedlings, veg plants, and flower moms and dads. But compared to what's out there, they aren't THAT good for growing pot. That's all I was saying.

I understand most the major differences in different types of lighting & i also own a flat out ton of HID lights, with me its about trying new things, finding out what will work & what will not work at all, thats where the fun is for me,i allready know what the best lighting is & i have them all at my disposal.

I could flood that room with 1,000,600 or 400 watts of Metal Halide lighting should i choose but there is no need, the T-12's are accomplishing lush plants with a healthy growth rate that keeps up with my sog needs as far as clones, veg & mothers go,there is no need for change.

Saying that T-12's are no good for growing weed is an unfair statement & has nothing to do with physics or being right on my part, its about offering newbs with little money or few lighting choices options on how to accomplish their grows, the T-12's have proven to me to be more effective over the darling little cfl's so many here use because they cant afford HID's or due to heat issues that cant control.

T-12's work just fine but they are limited, just like every other non hid lighting source.

Twice you have quoted me then accused me of saying they are NO good. I twice said I feel they are not THAT good. You would see equaly lush growth as well as more compact, and more overall growth from switching to the t5's originally mentioned by the OP. They have a higher lumen:watt ratio than t12, and better spectrums than most. Will you keep taking my quoted out of context, and simply misquoting me? It isn't fair in a fact based argument.

You are running a less than efficient grow. And physics are at play in your loss. If you want to put money out the door it's up to you. But I don't find it helpful recommending outdated and inefficient equipment. Perhaps I could have been more verbose in my original post to this thread, and explained why I FEEL what I do. There is no one method or system, but I think it's pretty good to have so much new equipment that better returns our investment.

We have butted heads on a couple threads. We have different philosophies in life obviously. I mean you no disrespect at all in my rebuttals. I have nothing personaly against you and feel outside of the confines of the Internet, we'd have a lively discussion smoking each others stashes. There's no point in arguing further and I wish to just say peace.

The T5 bulbs are a nice addition to your veg/clone box! They did wonders once I utilized my 8 bulb T5. Works like a charm! I have looked at home deopt for t5 fixtures and bulbs with no luck. So this is good news If I can buy them there soon.!
