cheap POS oscillating fans

so in just 5 months I've burned through as many cheap fans from wal-mart. I'm sick of cheap gear that keeps dying on me.

I notice that Gardener's Digest recommends using Air King wall-mounted fans. They've got 12" and 16" 3 speed models. I think I only need a 12" for my 6'x4'x8' room. Any opinions? And anyone know of a good place to pick one up in person in the states? I see that Grainger sells parts for the fans online. I wonder if they sell them in there retail stores or in Tractor Supply Company?

Go to a Salvation army/Goodwill/Thrift store and get an old style box fan, I've never had one die on me.

If you saved your receipt you should have been able to return it to Walmart. Their products are supposed to last. They stand behind them. I just mounted my cheap Salvation Army fan on the wall to free up floor space. I don't have very much money so save wherever I can. Our local Salvation Army has some awesome deals. If you save $100 in receipts within one year you get $10 in merchandise free. Also there stuff has different colored tags. Each week one tag is on sale for only 10 cents each. That is when I am at the door when they open. Between them and the dollar store a little slice of heaven.

LOL video ... my other secret .... don't tell anyone ... test drives ... get free money for test driving cars. Love to walk into a store and get a whole shopping cart full of stuff (like from the home depot) and it only costs me a dollar or two out of my pocket. But these are getting more difficult to find. Used to average about $50 in gift cards a month. Now down to about $10. But that is still better then nothing.

I saved my wal-mart/target receipts for fans for a while. problem is that if the fan burns out by the time it's heating season...then it's clearanced. you get 1/3 of the price you paid and they'll only give you store credit.

as for box fans...the space is too tight to allow for them. It's either one of those tower fans that are around 6"x6"x3' tall or something I can mount on the wall and point down.

eventually I just bought another crappy chinese tower fan for $30 to replace the current one until my next one comes in.

videoman, I appreciate your advice and would take it, but the local grow shop is getting me one quicker. unfortunately not for as cheap, but it's a great brand, Air King.

Thanks for the ideas. Sorry I didn't use them.
