WHen I hooked up my charcoal filter to my hood the fan pulled charcoal out of the filter. The charcoal started to build up in the hood on the glass. Is this normal? Thanks

You should run the filter by itself for a couple of days before attaching to your hood. That is why you have dust inside your hood. Because when they pack the filter most of the time they don't blow air through them to get rid of the charcoal dust.

thanks for the quick reply bro! What if I only have one fan and there no way I can use it for a couple days because its keeping my flowering tent temps. down. Could I just use a shop vac and if so how would I go about doing it?

just reverse the fan so instead of sucking air through the filter it will be blowing out. But the dust will blow out but won't be in the hood. Then a couple days switch it back.

Would the dust be all over my house then? Say if I hook it up to the fan but on the exhaust side would I leave the white filter on while doing this? And would this ruin my carpet? I mean I bought the stainmaster carpet from Lowes but not sure I want to try it out with charcoal dust. So the idea of using a shop vacation to suck out all the loose dust wouldn't work? Thanks

yes take cover off and you can vacuum up the dust in the carpet and it might work if you use the shop vac on the filter I'm not for sure but it makes sense
