Changing water when plant is big?

So im doing my first hydroponics grow with a DWC system. Everything is growing great and i'm in my 3rd week of flowering. I've been changing the water every two weeks or so and adjusting the ph weekly. My plants are a little taller than 3 feet now and last time I changed my water the plants started falling over. It seems like the walls were supporting them and when I took the lid off my dwc system they just collapsed. I fixed them up by using some tape to keep them from falling over and that seemed to work but I'm going to have to take the lid off at least 3 or 4 more times. Anyone have the same problem? How do you handle changing water when your plants start getting big?

I use a shut off valve on my res so when they get big i can just put a tube on it and drain into another bucket. you could but a cheap gas siphon pump at the auto parts store for about 10.00.

we use a syphon that you get from the fish store(the one to clean gravel in the fish tanks) that works well. you can syphonn the water back in. make sure your nuts are well mixed.

I use a small water pump to get all the water changed out. I had 5 plants in that Stealth Hydro kit that were over 4 feet tall. My first noob grow mistake. I couldn't pick up the top without the ladies falling all over the place. So I tied em all up to the wall and popped that little pump in there. Takes about 10 to 15 minutes for the whole change out. Make sure you unplug your airstones as to help reduce the stress on the roots when your water level gets low.
