in the picture is what I'm using right now it's a heavy duty tote from Home Depot but I found out where the clips are light can get through so I added all that Mylar hoping it would stop light from getting in. I have a had root rot problems this whole grow. Just last night o found out there is more root rot I put h202 and a frozen 2 liter in and the roots look better do I need to switch to 5 gallon buckets or something? What can I do? Do I need a new Rez? Plants have been grow restarted for almost 2 weeks now from me trying everything to fix this problem

i have pics of my dwc grow click the b next to my avatar

Container appears decently light proof now. Do you have an aquarium thermometer? Do you know what rez temps are?

My suggestion would be get a floating thermometer and some hydrogaurd or orca or any hydro friendly beneficial bacteria. Stop using h202 and overdose on hydrogaurd the first few times you use it. Keep rez under 74 degrees and you'll be good to go

AT home deput you can buy a 50 gal BRUTE Garbage can WITH WHEELS on the bottom. Comes with lid. ALl you need is a airstone.

The thing is I have been using HydroguArd (5ml per gallon) I just started putting ice in my Rez last night. And I poured h202 in all the plants because the root rot came on so strong so quick

I've been using HydroguArd and I have ewc in the mail so I can make tea. Do you think tea is the best way

If you add h202 after hydrogaurd you are killing all the bacteria you are trying to use to fix your plants. I use orca with good success its double the price though. I world run a higher concentration on hydrogaurd. Higher temps will cause your ph to rise with bennies though so keep an eye. It won't be an overnight transformation but after a week you should be growing new healthy roots. Old roots will not recover generally speaking

And yet another noob screws himself with DIY DWC.

Almost every DWC root rot post I read about the poster used a storage container and did DIY. It's so easy just to buy a stand alone system that's tried and true and the Bubble Boy DWC can be had for $50. I used the powergrower DWC/Drip from GH and it works flawlessly, came with nutes and costs maybe $80. There are others as well. Had to change rez weekly and adjusted PH every single day.

Being cheap and thinking you are a smarter engineer than those who developed tried and true well known systems has cost yet another noob time and money.

Hope you save your grow OP. I would just dump the DWC idea and throw some perlite/vermiculite in that container and drop those net pots in. Read up on Hempy bucket and keep it KISS from here forward.

yes
how much air you pumping
your nutes have organic in them

How many ml per gallon of hydroguard?
won't work if you don't fix whats wrong first
don't mix with h202 change res then add hydroguard 5 ml a gal what i used

Listen to terry^
You could up to 7 or even 10ml a gallon of hydrogaurd. I haven't ever heard of overdosing on it. Too much can obviously affect overall e.c. but i wouldn't worry much. Fix all light leaks. If you can put your hand in the container and see a difference in the darkness through the side it is not thick or opaque enough.

5 ml a gallon is a general dosage but i recommend overdosing at first to make sure the bennies get a good foothold. If bad bacteria outnumbers good bacteria you aren't really going to fix the problem

I got a new Rez that no light can get through and I even went the extra mile and put Mylar over the whole tub. My roots didn't look any better this morning but I have also been sticking frozen 2 liters in my Rez.
My question is I have ewc in the mail so I can make ewc tea is it ok to add the tea even tho HydroguArd is already in my Rez and do I still need to add frozen 2 liters when I have tea?

The hydrogaurd is just another beneficial bacteria. No problem mixing your tea with it though i would just start with a fresh rez with the tea. Roots won't grow a ton overnight. Give them a few days and look for new white tips. Still not a fan of that rez. That blue probably isn't thick enough to be light proof. Another note, you aren't going to want to run multiple plants in the same rez. Problems spread through all the plants and every plant eats differently so you won't be feeding them optimally. Roots will also get huge and tangle

This Rez is probably the best one I've made its very thick u can't tell in the pic but I also used Mylar on top. I can't see any light at all in the Rez I have to use my light on phone to see anything in it. But I'm also brewing the tea as we speak. Is it ok to use it after 24 hours or should I wait 48??
