Barack Obama has a new government web page, it's Change.gov. You can write letters to his administration with suggestions on how he should run the country. Here's mine:

me said:
Energy cost and climate change are two huge concerns for this country and the world, and nuclear energy is able to do a lot to help with both problems. Nuclear plants have the lowest external cost of any fueled energy source and could easily replace many of our nation's coal plants. New technology already mitigates many cost and safety issues.

In addition, American researchers have developed pyroprocessing, a new, much safer process for recycling nuclear waste. This could do a lot to help us achieve energy independence.

Also, biofuels are an incomplete solution for our transportation needs. In order to use energy like wind, solar, hydro, or nuclear for transportation, we need practical electric vehicles. I'm sure there is ongoing research here, but I never hear politicians talk about electric vehicles at all.

There are plenty of things we need to fix in this country, and you've said yourself, energy is the most important one. I hope you will look into some of these technologies that can make energy independence possible.

I can't tell if you're being patronizing.... but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're not...

One of his goals was to bring a lot more people into the Democratic process than before, and it looks like he's starting to follow through with that promise.

Obama will be the best thing to happen to this country in fifty years or more. This is a very gifted man.

I wonder if anyone will come up with some good political reasons for that statement based on his past history? I mean besides the neat phrase "Yes we can" .

Excellent observation and comment, Parker. This has been my assessment all along. I don't doubt Obama's intelligence or ability. He does motivate people, has charisma and the following. But, "Yes we can!," "We can get there!, "Hope!," and "Change!," doesn't get the country very far without actions. Let's see where we are a year or two from now.

The stock market continues to tank since Obama's election. Could one of the reasons be that investors are afraid of Obama's promised increase in the capital gains tax?
