For the best bud, what would be the best lighting? Currently using 4-23w cfls for sprouts and clones, ad 6-23w cfls for veg and flower, which is in a 18"x22"x3' area, with four pots holding one or four plants each.

Or should I just use that for clones and early veg and then Flower with a 600 or 1000w HID/HPS in a 4'x4'x6'5" tent.

Or an LED light, I can get a 300w for like $100. Would that cover the tent?

A manufactured panel for $100 will suck, full stop. The brightest and cheapest led panels are DIY, and the new COB leds are dead simple to assemble.

Take a look at the LED forum - especially this thread. http://rollitup.org/t/diy-leds-how-to-power-them.801554/
It should give you some ideas of what is possible for very little dough.
but even tgen how muc would that be? would i just be better off sticjing eith cfls? or 600w hps?

Cfls are hot, dim and inefficient. They contain mercury and lose at least half their brightness over their lifespan. Ditch em.

Check the led forum bro, take a look at some of the different DIY project threads in there. Cost is really dependent on you.

cool, thanks So much.! yeah and what is Worth doing is Worth doing right.! i definitely think i will do some more research? do you think in the end it may be cheaper more advantageous for me to just get a couple 4x4 or 6x6 tents and 600whps? i need to be able to easily break down the tents and move the girls too.

CMH is a newer technology, and has the advantages of both metal halide and hps.

Its overall a better light, there's a couple people on RIU using them with great success.

I don't understand why I don't see more of them, considering how superior the spectrum is.

A $100 LED like a ufo is not crap. The results for me were a step up from CFL for sure. Still needed my CFL's for side light. A better panel like a California Lightorks Solarflare would be better if you can afford a couple bills. If you really got the money a Blackdog panel is even better.

Would like to mention acouple thoughts.

First, led is not cheap, but well worth it if you build them on your own. Cobs all the way!

2nd as of now there IS proof that led herb is better then hps grown herb, ill link up some results from greengenes garden in the led section. Plus, many many trusted growers are reporting the same thing. I can vouch that my quality and yield has almost doubled since ive been a led grower. Led+organics= best herb you will ever grow.

And third, stay away from hps. That shit is dead technology imo
