doe anyone think if i put some lamps pointing at the sides the plant will grow better or is, in theory, lights just on top ok...?

The more light reaching every part pf the plant, the better off it will be...

I like putting lights from all directions... and I move/clip/trim leaves that are shading my bud sites...

I say lights from the side are good...

My 2 cents..

makes sense.... butw ith my setup its tough for me to get lights on the angles...

and the more cfls i have the more wires and the more clogged my timer is.... so i will need two times synced to go off and on....

my babies just started their 48 hour break....

more than likely i am going to leave it dark for 36 hours.... what you guys think... 48 or 36? OR more than 48.... i just wanna hit the light cycles to b when its bright outside so less chance of light leak from outside growroom

I just took a look at all of your pictures again... I wish you had a picture of the whole thing...bongsmilie

I think light on our plants has a good analogy to the oil in our car engines...:eyesmoke:

Any light is better than no light, but if you can use the proper light it is deff. better...bongsmilie yeah...!!!:eyesmoke:LOL...!!!

So I would look into those small tube fluorescent units they sell at the hardware store...

If you don't go with the absolute cheapest, I think the manufacturer lists the lumens and spectrum on the package...:bigjoint:

I would start thinking about tubes... standing up on the corners...laying down, shining from underneath... even a few in between the plants, standing up...:eyesmoke:

I saw a picture of a garden somewhere on this site that the dude only had the tubes standing in between the plants... no overhead light...bongsmilie

Maybe a combination...?!?:bigjoint:

My idea is that a tube can illuminate a larger area with only one wire...:eyesmoke:

I would also look at LEDs... I HAVE HEARD VERY FEW GOOD THINGS ABOUT THEM AND I HAVE NEVER USED THEM....

With that out of the way... again any light is better than no light...

LEDs are extremely low heat... so maybe you could supplement the bottom lighting with them....:bigjoint:

AS I STATED BEFORE, I CANNOT RECOMMEND WHAT I DON'T HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH... I am simply throwing some ideas out in the wind...

I just moved indoors, so I don't know jack...:eyesmoke:

But I would like to keep believing that any light is better than no light...

And on the other hand, I agree with doing everything you can to keep the dark, 100% DARK...

Well there is my 2 cents... take it lightly... it's just food for thought...

Good Luck...!!!

Oh! and I am running my lights on two timers too!!!
I set the 35 watt HPS for a straight 12/12, and I have all the CFLs turn on 30 minutes late and turn off 30 minutes early...

So the very first light and the very last light to hit my babies is the weak but warm (1900k) light of the 35 watt HPS...

Probably silly, but I know I hate when it's all dark... and someone opens the curtains and turns the lights on... and takes my covers off... I usually don't enjoy it too much... so... and that way I don't have to worry about them being sycronized...bongsmilie

What does everyone else think...???

Ok, its been a little while, the babies survived the vacation and are alive and kicking...

only problem i had was one plant, the (already proven) female is growing way to tall for the canopy...

i didnt want to have to do it to the beautiful top, but i pinched it out...

i surgically removed the top part of the plant right under the top node... i may even need to take more off if it keeps growing...

a few books that i have read say that pinching out a plant is actually good for the plant and should be done at least 2 times during the veg cycle... im in flowering, but the buds havent started and new leaves form daily... when u pinch out the main stem, the stem diverges. so i cut one branch and two grow. i cut both of those, and 4 grow!

i took pictures before i topped the plant and after. i took a pic of the amount i took off the plant as well.

i am about one week or so into flowering with red spec cfls 12/12 schedule.
