In selecting the right cfl's I am not sure as to which 40 watt 2700k's to get. One package says 150 watt replacement using only 40 watts. And the other says 40 watt replacement using only 10 watts. Is it the first one, the 150 ?

de finitely the 150 watt replacement the higher the wattage the better the plant will take light=better grow

and 2700k is also good better for the flowering ive read as appose to the 4000K's or higher, there mostly good for the vegetative state of the plant. but when flowering time comes around need to have the lower cfl's. It similates the red spectrum light the plants need for flowering bigger buds.

if it says 150 W 40 W replacement ur only actually gettin 40 Watts and u want at least 100 Watts per plant so get 2 or 3 or those 40 watters

Ok. Lol. Am I the only idiot that has bought all 10 watt cfl's?!! Thats what I got. Uugh! I thought they were 40 watters. I've had them all set up for some weeks now. Well, that'll give someone a laugh. At least I'm finding this out now cause they are just starting to flower. Thanks to you all for your responses. Know what I gotta do now.

26w and 23w work great too. You can get 23w 6500k CFLs for 5.99 a piece, or 8.99 for two at most stores (Home depot, Rite Aid, Longs, Walmart, etc) Look for the blue box for veg ;)

Another advantage of smaller cfls (42 and under) is that you can also find uses for them beyond growing. Keep in mind that cfls lose intensity over time and should be replaced as grow lights long before they burn out. I always date mine with a marker. If you have huge cfls that need to be replaced but still have life in them to make light, where can you use them? The small ones are greener in that respect.
