cfl timer?

hi i did a search and cant seem too find an answer.cfls are supposed too be on mechanical timers?and if they are why can you not use them with digital timers? sorry if this is a dumb ? i just see this in most of the ads for cfls so thanks in advance

i have never heard of that, just go to lowes

mine is mechanical... lowes lighting section has a bunch to choose from
