CFL Question

I'm going to get some Compact Flourescent lightbulbs today and I just want to know can those be screwed into any type of lamp? I have a few desk lamps that are the right height for my seedlings and they say not to use a bulb over 60 watts. Can I put 24 or 27 watt CFL's in there or is that not how it works? Do I need a special lamp or socket?

This is the kind of CFL you are looking for.

You can find them at tons of places.

You can put these in any regular incandescent socket. They usually range from about 5-42 watts, as long as this doesn't exceed the wattage limit of your light fixture, you are fine. I would go for the highest wattage ones that you can find.

I got four 26 watt CFLs today rated at 1700 lumens each. I have three plants in cups but only one is sprouted at this time. Its only an inch tall. How much light should I put on this little one?

I use 6 85 watt Spiral CFLs and I am very happy with my growth. I have pics at GROW ROOM SEPTUP under R For Roseman of my present Grow.
you can get 105 watts now, just google "High Wattage CFL ". I was at Lowes and Home Depot yesterday and they have great Reflectors with Clamps for $7 medium size and $11 for large. They also had 42 watts CFLs and I got two more fo them.
