Cfl Proximity To Foliage

all i can say is htg supply diy build kit cheapest youll find and not difficult to build.

HD or Lowes(dont remember right off hand) has 4light-4ft t5 and t12 for $20!!(bulbs not included of course). I'm thinking about picking up a couple myself for my next grow for veg and flower.

I just read this whole thread(thanks in part to some OG Kush).....cfl box, newbie who now has, some great info! TY for all who have contributed to this thread!

Quick question regarding the first post; Is it ok to keep a true 150w cfl as close? Assuming op was referring to the smaller cfls (ex.27w/46w) Thanks

i kinda get what the OP is saying, buying 200 watts worth of 40 watt cfls and moving them all around the plant is better than buying some 250 watt hps and just hanging it on top. Better to just litter the top, left, right, back and even your door with massive amounts of CFL spam that way your plant gets maximum light coverage and grows out on all directions

I'm totally new to this.

Where do you find these multi socketed light fixtures. I can't find them anywhere.

I looked through 4 lowes in MA and NH but I couldn't find the Y-connector that splits a a socket into two sockets. I checked True Value and a bunch of other hardware stores too. Being a sketch mofo I didnt want to look suspicious buying tons of grow-equipment in the same place lol.. Ends up lowes stopped carrying them a few months ago. But then I went to Home Depot and they had boxes of em for cheap! like 1.50 for 1.

Your best bet is going to home depot or ordering them online. You can find them in the electrical section near the switches/outlets.

They are called twin socket splitters, not y-connectors. Go to HD and ask where the Twin Socket Splitters for light bulbs are and they should take you right there. You can get them online as well.

depends on your experience

newbie = soil

Think you know = soil

you know some = coco + perlite

you know good = hydro or soil

you know a lot = soil or hydro or coco

ok i know good. maybe alot. its all soil. but ok? i was thinking fox farm ocean floor or some veganics. i cant afford much or id already have a hydro set up with son agro bulbs and a shit ton of advanced nutrients

Depending on your region, BACCTO potting soil is high in N and slow-release fertilizers. Look it up on google or bing, should give you good results on soil content. I am very impressed with this product.

Roach, I have been using FFOF on my second grow and I love it! It's very loose with tons of nutes, and I have yet to feed my plants on my second week of flowering. And it is also ph balanced between 6.2 and 6.8. You can get 1.5 cu ft for $36 on amazon, so it's a little pricey but my fruit spirit is about 22" on week 6 of growing with lots of budsites and i'm using cfl's. That's the only thing I have tried though besides regular soil.

I'm growing in a tubberware box, I have 2 lights in a Y splitter behind my plants on the side, one 68w on the top, and 2 smaller watts ones on the other sides. its growing the plant in my avatar, its swelled up since the pic

The best soil(less) mix I have found is manufactured by BACCTO. Not sure if they service all fifty states but you should have no problem googling them.

I disagreewith keeping the cfls 1 inch away. I am using 10 cfl bulbs ranging from 23 watt to 45 watt. during vegging, keep them 2-4 inches away from the leaves, but during flowering, the heat from the lights was burning my girls hairs. I moved them about 10 inches away, and all is great now. here is how i am set up

Not true, get two 300 watt CFL's and be done with it ~ 6500k of course, simple

I find that my 4x4 4 bulb T5s do the trick in veg. Once thy are ready to flower, I have a 1KW HPS bulb that is tried and true.
