I have a box for seedlings and clones, its 2x4x2 (w x l x h). I'm wondering if I could get away with 8 100 watt cfls, or if a 5 light would be better for me. Also, would it need to be ventilated? I've heard cfls can be pretty cool, but I just want to make sure....the last thing I want is an explosion to cause some unwanted attention..What's a cheap way to make a fixture? They stock the bulbs most places...but no one has a fixture. Anything I can just slap together and voila!?

Ull Be Fine With The 23 Watts. I Got 3 Cfls On Both My Plants An There Reaching 18 Inches In The Last Month An A Half Of Growing. And Im 3 Days Into Flowering. Ull Be Fine. Btw My Cfls Are 125watts But True Wattage Is 30 Watts. Putting Out 2050 Lumens Each. Just Dont Go Over Board Bro. And There Are These Clamp Lights You Could Get At Homedepot That Are Like 6.99 Each And You Could Get A Double Split To Screw In There And You Could Put 2 In Each Light Clamp. Hope This Helps You Bro.

I use 8 CFL's, on a bathroom light fixture. Hollywood style fixture. with "Y" adapters. You can find these at Goodwills and Thriftstores. All you have to do is wire it up with a plug. It's a simple wire job. 2 wires!
Works wonderful but can raise the temps to 90F if no fan is used in a closed up space. Click on my gallery pics, you will see what I'm using.

Last pics in my Gallery are old and not the setup I'm using now. Although I suggest using Plant Spa pots not the Trough. Those pots are great, they have plenty of areation on the bottom and allow for oxygen to reeach the bottom of the soil. This is also good because it helps dry the soil out faster so no mold or fungus growth. When they reach 8-12 inchs in height you will be watering every other day with these pots.
