Right ive im on the verge of giving up :( went down to local hardware store today to find out theres no mogul/screw base sockets for normal household CFL lights e.g. 23w

Does anyone here know a site or have a link to somewhere that sells these things as i need 8 of them for my cfl lighting in my little stealth cab

And whilst u at it does anyone know or have a link to somewhere that shows u how to wire multiple mogul/screw base sockets together so u can plug into a plug socket?

thx

what watt light are you trying to use? If they are mogul I would bet you need a fixture for that size light.

If you plan on using a 105 watt CFL bulb in a Clamp Refector, you will need one of these:

I have come to believe that 2 42 watt bulbs, in one Clamp Reflector is the most efficient, cost effective way to provide light to your Grow.
You also need one of these

and two of these

Available in black or cream colored at Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot and any Hardware store, about $1.69 to $1.99.
They are used to put two 42 watt CFLS in one Reflector.

I also like these:

1 to 4 Sockets Adapter A4E27

This adapter will allow 4 bulbs to be installed in one socket. Each socket on the adapter can support up to 250W, so it support up to 1000W in total.

I have seen these lined up and used in a Surge Protector:

Or try two of these :

in one of these:

One in each side. There is a socket on the bottom of this that u can not see.

One of those equals 3 sockets all 90 degrees apart.

A Mogul socket is an extra large socket for 105 to 200 watt bulbs.
They make adapters to use a regular socket for those extra large bulbs.

All of the 23, 27, 42, 65, and 85s have regular sized sockets and the bulbs fit into any normal socket. Some 105s are normal sockets, some 105s are Mogul size.
ALL 200 watt CFLs have a much larger socket, called a mogul socket.

8' Power Cord with Mogul Socket

If you want a 200 watt CFL, you will need one of those or a Mogul Socket.

There are Adaptors:

If the cfl has a mogul base. Dosen't it need a ballist to run the light? If not I need to rethink my cfl set up.

Most large wattage CFL's are "self ballast". Meaning the ballast is attached to the bulb, at the base. This makes it easy to use. Problem is, the bulbs go out before the ballast 99% of the time. So, people throw away perfectly good CFL ballast everyday. Its just the way it is.

Some have a remote ballast. Much more unique and harder to come by, but people do it.

YOU DO NOT NEED A MOGUL SOCKET FOR A 23WATT CFL BULB. A regular, everyday, ordinary light bulb socket will work great. Just get a regular light socket. Lowes and homedepot sell clamp reflecdtors and all sorts of light bulb sockets. I run 42 watt and 65 watt CFL's in regular light sockets. My 200watt and 250 watt bulbs get the mogul sockets. Make sense ??? :joint:

there are ballasted and un-ballasted CFL's. yer typical 105-200w CFLs have their own ballast. same as the smaller wattages. but... you can purchase fixtures that have ballasts in them, for which you'd need the un-ballasted bulbs. which I have seen up to 300w. wow I made that sound complicated but its not.
