CFL Grow - White Widow

This is my White Widow grow at 22 days. It's in an old refrigerator with a 6" intake and 6" exhaust with a 160 cfm squirrel cage fan in the freezer compartment. Not shown is the veg section in the top. In there right now are are two skunk haze seedlings under 2-23's 24/24. There is a passage hole in the freezer section for air flow. I have the hole covered with a black carbon filter so that no light penetrates to the flowering section after lights out, yet air can flow.

It's in Miracle Gro moisture retaining slow release fertilizer soil in a two gallon pot.

The reflectors on the 23's are pop cans cut to fit the base of the bulb.

I moved the WW from veg to flowering 4 days ago and put on 12/12. Lighting is 3 - 42's and 4 - 23's... 218 actual watts.

Oh... Those piles of stuff to the sides are industrial wet floor sponges. I wet them each day and put them in the box for humidity.

Day 30 - WW is 9" high, 30" circumference. First sign of sex, good girl. Beautiful dark green. Took a clone two days ago. Have it under 300 (real) Watts CFL.

Comparison pics of Day 21 and Day 32. The plant is now nearly 11" high with a 36" circumference. I now have an 85W CFL at the top, and a total of about 275 watts of light. Harvest is estimated at 12/16/2008, a total of 69 days.

Just four days has made a big difference. Definite flowering on the top and nodes. I'm afraid it may be outgrowing the frig, and I'll have to put it in my 400W HPS. It's such a beauty I hate to mess with it, though. But I have some Argan Haze in veg, so it may get the CFL seat.

Damn dude. Thats a job well done. Did you by chance get the "Buds For Less" book? you have a very similar light setup, with the lights hanging from boards.

I would give this grow an A+. Very nice job! +rep

On second thought... you should make this perpetual by turning the top half into a veg area. Take a clone right now, then put a few 42w 6500k CFLs over it to make it a mommy. Then about 2-3 weeks before harvest, cut a few more clones, and put them into flower when you chop the other one.

For extra credit, you could do more than one at a time to have a shorter cycle, i.e. a clone cut every 3 weeks, and a week or so to veg, then harvest every 4 weeks and replace it with the new clone.

I dunno... just a thought.

The light setup is taken from Buds For Less. I modified the setup, wired the sockets in series with one rather than with 3 ext. cords.

I'm using the top for veg/clone, and now the bottom too, since I moved the WW to another area with a 400 HPS light. From now on it will probably go like this: veg only in the top, veg and flower as needed in the bottom, and under the HPS when plant grows too high. I figure about a plant every 1 1/2 months in the cold months, not too shabby.

Attached image is 11/15/2008, when I transferred it to the HPS. I have an Arjan's Haze going that's 19 days old now, will put into flower in a week or so.

hey, looking good! I've got some WW going right now too. Our plants are close in age so I'll stay tuned. Come check out my grow if you get a chance.

Legend- I dig the light setup. How exactly did you wire the receptacles together and use just one extension cord? I think I have an idea - its probably why the back of the light receptacles have 2 screws for each wire. Nice grow, +rep!
