CFL Bagseed and Bender grow

CFL grow in a used cabinet. I'm using a grow journal app but I want a "hard copy" online JIC. Not my first grow but I just moved and this is the best I could do ATM. I'll update a few times a week as I see fit. Germ to mid veg is actually quite boring but I may be helping some people unknowingly or getting Q's.

Background:
I've been growing for 3 years. Reason being, I have Crohn's. I've tried different biological IV drugs, only to have bad sides or bad reactions. This medicine hasn't given me any sides, well not any bad ones

My cabinet has 2 light sockets which currently hold 8 CFLs. 6 daylight and 2 soft white. 18/6

I am just a few days past germ. Planted in starter soil. Germ'd with paper towel method. In red solo cups with drain holes. Bottom of cups have a layer of clay pellets.

The cabinet isn't air tight and I can for see odor problems in bloom. I'll deal with that then. I have an intake vent, an inside fan, and a exhaust fan mount on the back. Mylar lined walls. The shelves are adjustable so I can get my girls right up on the light.

I have all the usual equipment. Water meter, pH strips, watering with city punch (faucet water), Fox Farm nutes (I'll list them all later), Mammoth P, and FullOn.

I have a nice supply of seeds. I've chose to use the rest of my bag seeds (7) and Bender (ECSD x Chembreath) seeds (2). Bag seeds have been collecting over the past 2 years. Surprised to say it was 9/9 in germ, even with old seeds. Now this cabinet DOES NOT have room for 9 once transplanted so some will get chucked but I'll keep both Bender plants. I'm aiming at 6 total plants but Ill play it by ear.

The Bender has a harvest time of 70 days so I'll see how the bag seeds work.

Watered today with city punch. 7.4 ph and about 10% runoff.

Well my BS 7 died on me. Idk why either. Its germ went well. Maybe I mishandled it in a way. I am very careful and systematic with my routines and procedures. I didn't have the space but I hate losing any. Its a compulsion I assume. I am replacing it with a Mcfly seed. Mcfly is a Doc Brown (Doc's OG x Power Plant) x Chem Breath cross. I have medicated with it on a few occasions but never grew it myself. Has the same 70 day flower time as my Benders.

Day 11 of veg. I have some, what I think is over watering or nute burn happeneing. I grabbed the wrong jug of water last watering. It only had half strength of Mammoth P but still may be too much for my girls. They got a flush watering today. My lone McFly (7) is really growing well. Its 5 days behind the rest and seems almost their height already. I bought a small pouch, well the smallest they sell, of Mycofusion green for when i transplant for my roots. My 2 Benders, besides the yellowing, look good and healthy. Pics coming

Also if anyone can suggest an excellent grow app for PC or android id appreciate it. I've tried 4-5 and settled on Grow Wise. The free version only allows for 6 plants tho. Grow Buddy is too extensive. Cannabis Grow was too confusing and Growtopia was just wack. Id prefer free but I'll go as high as two bucks.

Just another update with pics. I've been quite off this grow and it has me so frustrated. I've never had this many minor problems. This cabinet grow has had so many shenanigans with it. My Bender plant, that i germ'd 5 days after the rest, is the biggest and healthiest. I added an oscillating fan, 9 in. Has my plants need watered/fed more often. My RH has been 30-40 and my temps steady 80-85. That's after adding the fan. I was at low 90s before it. I backed away from my lights quite a bit. About 12-14 inches. Added a few lights. 8 daylight, and 2 warm white. I lost one of my bag seed plants and had some algae growth. I'm about a week from transplanting, give or take. Today's feeding consisted of the following:

2ml Full On
3ml Mammoth P
1.2ml Kangaroots
2ml Big Bloom
2ml Wholly Mackeral
1/2 cup 3%H2O2

I'm gonna add in Kelp Me to the feeding and increase the Mammoth P.

Another needless update. But I shall keep trucking. This cabinet has leaks around the door, not light leaks, well not incoming light leaks. I am on 18/6. The 6 is at night when its dark so I don't worry at all. During the 18, when the light is off in the room, i can see the growlight around the doors of the cabinet. I'll try some weather stripping to get a good seal going. My charcoal filter and ducting arrived. Still weeks away before install. I swapped out a few lights for higher wattage ones. I like 23 watt ones. The watt to lumens ratio is better than the 46s.

I had planned on transplanting but I don't have the room in there for all the plants atm. I have some losers but I'll flush and they get better. I have a few that look like i should just chuck but I'll wait for about 10 more days and prune down to 5 plants.

All my nutes are per gallon even though i rarely use the whole gallon that feeding.

The RH is before feeding. It usually goes to 50ish for a few hours afterwards. I might buy a new grow tent. Amazon had nice ones 3x3x6 for around $50. When I moved I lost all my gardening/growing supplies. Id have to buy plug/socket cords but i think everything else would just transfer over. The cabinet has two light socket outlets so that would be a change. I'll give it some thought but I'll probably just finish this grow then start fresh with all premium seeds in a tent. I really just wanted to see what my bag seeds did this grow and what they were.

Good day fellow growers and aficionados. My Crohns has been killing me this week. Since I am looking for a job currently, I havent medicated this month at all and its getting to me. I have enough savings to live another 6 months from my severance but I dislike being inactive.

On to my update. I transplanted 3 days ago. It was semi successful. I used Mycofusion and dusted my root ball and the cup hole in the new pots. I didn't measure but it was a good dusting indeed. Then was just water till today. I said semi cuz I only had room for 5 plants. I think they are 3 gallon pots. Not sure tho. I started my grow with 9 plants and was looking to cut it to 3, in all honesty. Mainly cuz they were mostly bagseed. I didn't give them much hope. But 2 fizzled, I replaced one with a McFly seed and kept moving. So then I had 8 growing. Was looking at my 2 Bender, the McFly, and whichever bagseed was doing the best. I kinda sorta have fell in love with them all. Only one of the bagseed plants LOOKS sativa. Its has the thin fingers working, so I really wanted to keep that one.

So my solution at the moment is to abandon the cabinet. Its 18x36x48. So I need something close to 36x36x48. I don't really need taller but if I am going tent, then I'll upgrade to LEDs in Sept/Oct for my next round. So I'll hit Amazon this weekend and do a lil research. $60 seems like a good starting price. So I'll keep my extra 3 till mid next week when my new tent arrives. I'll keep the cabinet as a germ/veg area. I don't do clones. I like to grow from seeds. It just feels better with my hand in the dirt. Yea I know the benefits but I'm not in a rush for bud. I enjoy the process more than anything.

My feeding for today is as follows:

The old red cups, all 8 plants, took only about a half gallon. The newly replanted 5, took almost 2 full gallons.

So my furry homeboy, Axel, got to my garden while i was getting water for my girls. Lost 3 girls today. Luckily it was the ones i didn't transplant yet. But I wanted to keep them so bad.

So I'm down to five plants all in 3ish gallon pots. Ordered my tent. 24"x24"x48". Had 4+ stars on Amazon. Was only $48. While watering today, i turned my oscillating fan off and my babies stink already. Once i get them outta this cabinet, I'm gonna pop some more seeds. I have a few East Coast Sour Diesel crosses I wanna try out. I went thru my seed collection and noticed that i have don't have any no/low odor selections. It doesn't bother me but without a filter, things would get iffy.

Side note, my little lemon tree is doing great. I started it inside. I'm building a raised garden mainly to attract bees, I'll put it right next to it. Why bees you may ask? Well there's a shortage and they are important to us (people). I'm very earthy in a weird way.

Man that sux when that happens. My two girls are about 3-4 weeks from harvest yet. Says 7-8 but not dense yet so Taking them 10weeks Well the other day I had came home and the a at and Kitten had gotten in there and was jumping from too area to bottom(it's the front inside of the Motorhome with Van front and bed above, that where I built my grow area). Anyways. They broke 3 nice six branches off. It tasted crappy still by not to bad. And a nice buzz already for being that early cus it definately needs the few weeks yet.

White widow X Big Buds. Good for pain and sleep. Or if you lightly smoke it can give a nice energy to get they the day. I like it but there's much better out there. It's an easy grow and can have lots of fun

At my home there are 2 German Shepards, a chihuahua, and 2 cats. One of the reasons I chose an old wooden cabinet is they cannot knock it over. I've seen many a posts about the nuisances of pets and gardens.

I wanted to flip next week but I have to wait on my filter cuz the smell is only going to intensify. I left for a family gathering on the 3rd, the whole room stank when ii returned. I had a fan running in the room, but the grow exhaust fan was pushing that odor all over.

Fed today. No pics tho. They have been doing good with 1/2 strength nutes so I decided to try a full blast to see how they fare. A handful of growers I speak with suggested keeping Mammoth P to smaller doses. I'll stick with half strength especially since I use Kangaroots ever other week.

I'm having a huge odor problem ATM. So far just the room stinks but if/when I open the door, you can smell it up the stairs. My filter stuff isn't getting here fast enough(more on that later) I've moved them into my 2x2 tent. They barely fit, well they fit but they all have circular drain trays, which makes them barely fit. I should have went bigger on the tent but i usually never have more than 2-3 plants. I had to turn off the oscillation on the fan cuz there's no room. I don't like that. I put the fan in the corner and it reaches all the plants but I miss the swinging breeze.

The cabinet area was about 5 feet off the ground. Moving them to the tent, where they are 6 inches off the ground, has dropped the avg temp by about 8 degrees. I've been at 73 on average for a few days, as opposed to about 80. The RH hasnt changed much. Still in the upper 40s regularly.

I ordered an extra socket cord, and better fan, and some aquarium carbon (to make my own filter) from Amazon. Im a Prime member so I take advantage of that 2 day shipping. I also ordered 2 30 watt full spectrum bulbs. They were on clearance so I'm gonna add them to my flowering setup, which really just includes more 27k CFLs.

I'm about 2 weeks from flip, more like 10 days but, meh. Im not gonna pinch or prune anything. I also hadn't plan to scrog cuz I wanted to stay in the cabinet and didn't have the holes/spots to connect trellis. In the tent, I'll just connect to the side bars. The only reason I might not is depending on how many males I end up tossing. If its 3 or more, then no scrog. I'll just tomoato cone them.

Watered my babies today. I may have stuffed this lil tent too tight. These 5 plants shouldn't be in this 2x2. Its common for 1 plant per square foot. So that's 4 I'm supposed to limit my tent to. I have 5 and then a metal fan. I keep repositioning them for light and air purposes. Also to keep the leaves off each other and the tent wall. I'm gonna flip next week. Need to see the sexes so I can eliminate, hopeful just one. I want my fan mounted on a bar but I went and got a fancy metal oscillating fan. Its quite heavy but its very nice and good breeze even on low. Might have to just get rid of it and get a couple smaller fans to just blow air from the side bars.

I made snazzy filters for my lil tent. I've made them before. Got the idea from the "odor thread" in the indoor gardening forum.



I have a 240 cfm duct fan. I made 2 filters. I would normally sow them but I was lazy and stapled them. I clamp one in the duct before the fan and one clamped going out the tent. Five plants, no smell.

I've been having some small problems lately. This past week my temps have been higher than i hoped so I had to put my oscillation fan back in. To make it fit I had to remove a drain tray. In doing so I saw a few gnats. I instantly panicked. Idk why but I did. I took my plants out to rearrange them and contemplated topping the bag seeds. My plants have yellow/white spots on some leaves and holes on a few others. Due to the gnats, I immediately thought mites. I realised i hadn't fed in over a week. So I'm hoping its nuts related. I also noticed my lights fell down the strap. I didn't strap them properly and they were right on a few leaves, maybe 6-8 inches. I meticulously checked for mites under each leaf with my phone clip on magnifying scope. So I rewiped down everything and installed 3 more 23 watt 27k CFLs. Placing the plants back in, I noticed more gnats in the drain trays. I finger crushed all I saw. They can't fly in my tent cuz the fan is too strong so I assume they crawl around the bottom near the trays and maybe on my topsoil.

I've used this before with good results. I'll spray my trays and then the soil. Wait a day then dust perlite or sand on top of the soil. I was gonna go with a no pest stripe but I'm in tent too often.

With all that, I flipped yesterday. Gave a soft watering and looked over every leaf again. Saw more gnats when I disturbed the soil, so I'll spray come Tues. I'll feed Mon likely to avoid over doing it all in my one day.

Gonna be looking in on them a few times a day for awhile, looking for balls or bananas. I don't worry about small yellowing or droppy leaves unless its all the leaves.

First feeding of flowering. Over the weekend my socket cord blew out. POS

So I went and grabbed another later that day. Not a big deal but I really just wanted a smooth grow session. This grow has been riddled with problems.

I rotated my plants. Touched every leaf. Looked under them all. I let them go without mutes a bit too long. PH was mid 6ish. Temp and RH solid. I want to open the velco vents but Im sure I'll forget to close them at lights out. I need more intake air. I have a duct out the back for intake but I need more. Still hoping I don't have a sausage party in my tent.

Good day good people.

I'm in day 9 of flowering. I am smell my plants slightly even tho I have a 6" filter working. So I double checked all tape and duct clamps, but I don't see/feel any leaks. I have that white cloth cover on the filter and I can kinda smell the air coming out of it. I hope not. I'll give it another day and do a sniff test. I have central air on and a fan in the room. I'll shut all doors and turn everything off and see if I smell things strongly. Again not strong, just hints. Any smokers will definitely pick up on it.

Again Day 9. Took each plant out for examination. Looking for sex stuff and pests.

Last feeding I hit em too hard, had a decent amount of burn. So I halved a few nutes, got a good runoff. My pH was lower than last time. 6.3 It'll probably be a thing in a month or so. I'll focus on it then. Since spraying for bugs, I haven't seen any. I hate perlite on top of my soil. It just swims whichever way when I water.

They got a few inches taller since the flip. Had to raise my lights up to compensate.

Temps been OK considering its been in the 90s for a week. RH has looked good.

Sad day my fellow growers. Sad, SAD day. Found 2 plants whose balls dropped. I was hoping the old adage of taller plants = male but it seems so. They were 2 of my most hopeful too. My McFly and one of my Benders. Firstly, I hate killing any of my plants, even males. I care for them, nurse them, sing to them, and even kiss them (dont judge me). Now those two are gone. Buried in my outdoor garden as fert and mulch. I'm sad now, no, really I am.



They will be mourned when my veggie crop gets harvested. I will have a salad fit for a king.

On to other business. My remaining 3, only one has confirmed as female. Its one of the bag seed. And sadly, its the shortest plant. Which in turn makes me think the other taller 2 might be male as well. The 2 I chopped already were really tall. Almost 3 feet. So I not hopeful at all.

I watered my remaining plants out of spite. Yep, spite. I've had one grow before where i grew 6 plants and they were all male. Now I wish I would have treated the other bags better to fill in. I am assured at least one plant but its bag seed. I think its some sort of kush I had last summer. I may harvest, then clone from her. I tried that once before. The plants got too out of control. Super bushy but its an idea. I've nevetr sex'd early in veg before but I may next round. Cutting, cup of water, 12hr lights, 10-15 days. I just like the old fashion way but with female ratio.

Day 15. Start of week three. Introducing some sugars with some Bembe. I like the profile Fox Farms has in there. Normally I'd go with unrefined molasses. I got it free however a few months ago as juas decided to run it now.

I fed my girls. All 3 that remain are now confirmed female. I started with 10 and lost good meds along the way. I have one really short bag seed plant. My remaining Bender and other bag seed and rather tall. I don't wanna scrog then since the heights are so uneven. I'm gonna need some bamboo steaks and zip ties.

Good day fellow growers. My girls are just starting week 4 of flowering. Day 22. Personally I've had challenges all thru this grow, in and out of my indoor garden. I had a wasp nest near my outdoor. They have bothered my plants visitors. My lemon tree had a few lady bugs, gone now. I had wildflowers growing for purposes but the wasps scared off all my bees. Im having minor tooth pain, my Crohn's has been acting up, and today my male German Shepard broke his collar and I've lost his tags. I know life is riddled with hiccups but I usually cop with a good joint. I still haven't smoked in months. I miss it. However, I am down about 10-15 pounds with not having the munchies on a regular. I've also found employment, so this personal drought will end in a couple weeks. I have a good handful of small nagging problems but feel grateful and blessed that they are just that, small. Enough about my ho him life, on to my grow.

I ran out of Fox Farm's Grow Big right at flip. So this past week I've noticed yellowing of my bottom leaves on all 3 girls. I was gonna buy some kinda nitrogen heavy nute but I've been busy. Luckily I still had fish fert that I used earlier in my grow. The Grow Big was 6-4-4 and the fish stuff is 3-1-1. So this sub is solid with me. I still won't go full strength but I may go 3 quarters strength if the problem lingers. I also had yellow leaves fall off this week even tho the deficiency just really appeared recently.

Except for those bottom leaves everything else looks great. No pests. Lush green leaves. Gassy chemy funk from my Bender. I'm sure the smoke will be great but I really love the process. Have you ever made your own knife? Welding steel with your hands to create a work of art. Or built something like a house/roof or even a deck. Doing it yourself, bringing life so to speak, its an amazing feeling when you sit back and appreciate it.
