No..they have a much improved spectrum. more blue light. They are not available in high watt bulbs yet, but are an excellent grow bulb for spectrum.

Ceramic MH and regular MH differ in the design of the arc tube (the bulb-within-the bulb that contains the plasma). Standard MHs use fused quartz, while CMHs use a ceramic "built-up" tube like that in HPSs. CMHs can operate at higher temperatures and pressures, providing somewhat higher efficiency and a changed color spectrumfrom a different reactant fill. cn
