Ceramic Heater in an outdoor workshop?

So I have this workshop outside that's not very well insulated, and I was trying to get some seedlings started out there. The temps are running at about 44 degrees F with the lights on. I was wondering if a ceramic heater would be enough to get the temps where I need them? Or since the building isn't well insulated would that just be a waste of energy?

It appears you have to do something 44deg is too cold -run the heater and check room in 2 hrs at see where your at. If you can get it to 60 deg, youd be alot better then 44.IMO.

Yea I know 44 is way too low. Nothing is going to sprout if I don't heat it up. I'm just wondering if a ceramic heater would be enough power for something that cold or if it will just burn the heater up or waste the heat.

Well without knowing the size of room and btu's of heater, I say plug it in, check temps in a few hours, dont want seed goin to waste. Bagseed or bought seed?

The room is about 12'x7' and I'm really just wondering if heat will stay inside the building since it's so cold and not insulated. Also is it safe to leave a ceramic heater on out there at all times. The seeds were given to me. I have Juicy Fruit, Afghan x Trainwreck, Lemon Skunk, and Purple Kush.

Well at least you didnt pay for them- I use a ceramic heater in my bedroom all night turn off when I leave. Turn it on man, just keep it away from the gas can. Go back and check it a few times to make sure its ok and check temps. Its gonna be a slow grow at 44 deg.f, if at all. Dont waste the good seads-turn on the heat. imo.

You can place the sprouting seedlings on a heating matt ta keep the soil warm. As far as the shed goes do a test run like sated above...

Another idea is to make a grow box(rubber made or something)with the heater inside it inside your workshop, if your lucky enough you could get some lights (inside rubber made) that put out enough heat where you don't need the heater. (If you ask me this is your best bet.)

Can you do some basic insulating? just plugging up obvious holes or putting up some styrofoam maybe? Propane heaters give off Co2 which is an advantage for the plants

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm going to throw a heater out there and see what happens. I considered buying a heating pad from walmart (not the expensive ones at hydro shops). Oh and btw I have plenty of seeds where these came from. :weed:

I put some foam towards the top, but as far as insulating the walls...there would be too much surface to cover for the amount of money I would have to spend.
