My best friend , my Labrador is getting old and showing signs of arthritis. I have seen a product online called canna pet. Do you guys (and girls) think that this would help? I know it is from hemp but short of making CBD oil from my plants what about this?

It might work so it's worth trying The Canna Pet but you probably would do better making your own oil. I'm making some coconut canna oil
right now and it sure helps my arthritis and other health issues. Can't beat Labs !

Would I be able to make some oil from the leaves? I will have a boat load soon since my outdoor harvest is about 2 to three weeks away. Yes sir we do love these wonderful Labs, just wish they lived longer.

Yeah, you can use the leaves and the leaves that you can see the resin glands(trichomes) on work the best. Cook your oil at least 8 hours for maximum affect. Wish we'all lived longer !

If you really want CBD and not activated THC for your dog, either process it from hemp any way you want, or do a cold extract from fresh MJ for non-activated THC. Something like a dry ice bubble bag to collect the trichomes and then mix with coconut oil to keep it from drying. If you do not dry, compact, or heat your collected material, it will not decarb and produce active THC. Or you could just purchase Canna Pet.

Without going too much into the pharmacological aspects. Thca will cross the blood brain barrier in high doses. Our pets having a much greater reaction. Binding affinities many times stronger will still feel effects unlike humans.

Cbd acts on some 11 pathways not counting those indirect. This occurs in the brain. There are cb2 receptors outside the brain that can be hit to reduce inflammation. But opiate receptors wont be hit for example among many others. Whats commonly misunderstood is thc has relatively similar binding affinities for both cb1 and cb2.

Thc binds..well specifically
cb1 receptors respond to the c-9 position of the cyclohexane ring, the phenolic hydroxyl and carbon/non polar side chains at c3...

check structure of win 55,napthalene ring and cyclohexane ring, carbonyl group and phenolic hydroxyl, and morpholinoethyl group

2 oxygens a phenolic hydroxyl at position 1 and an oxygen pyran ring opposite, interacting through hydrogen bonding with a lysine residue, the opening of the pyran ring not being significant...

Now not only does this carboxyl group -cooh ..nitice the oxygens and hydrogen..alter this hydrogen bonding

When we look at synthetic cannabinoids in drug design..
acyclic ring was found to be better than a heterocyclic ring, with a cyclohexane ring being optimal. In addition, the size and the position of the substituent on the cyclic ring is important to maintenance of CB1 affinity...position of double bonds within the cyclohexane ring effect activity. For example, moving the double bond of 9-THC to position 8 (as in delta8-THC) decreases CB1affinity. Bu about 30%
methyl (less likely to hydrogen bond) ethyl etc generally kills short side chains kill activity, 4-6 is best, branched chain increases activity.. increasing ring size to say heptane increases activity of both, conversion to a pyran cuts cb2 .adding oxy, hydroxy ketones increase cb2 .a sulfur substitution anywhere ruins it.
oxy in the phenyl ring increases cb1 can't substitute the phenol or alter placement as I was mentioning about delta 8, serious alterations ruin it
, degree of saturation as well as the position of the double bond in the cyclohexane ring effects cb1

I could literally carry on for a whole page.. receptor binding.. relies on the 3 things mentioned in my post above with slight variations drastically altering binding affinity and huge changes kill it. As decribed

So again the addition of the polar -cooh decreases activity butvit also effects the logp of the compound

Cbd logp in the high 6's thc Bout 7
In practice optimum colonic absorption is 1.32, intestinal is 1.35, oral 1.8, Cns 2, percutaneous at 2.6 and sublingual 5.5.

So this effects how we make the base to get the polar cbda into the skin

I rampbled like fuck and prolly made nosense...im not a vet and not completely sure on any pharmacological differences among humans and yur pets. But between 20 and 30 fold increase in potency is known

My lab ate several pounds of very potent cannabutter once. Holy fuck. Ever seen a dog fry balls for a week straight?

Edit: This was not on purpose. She got into it and had to try very very hard to do so.

Ive seen medium sized dogs eat crumbs.
Classic side effects are inability to maintain bladder control ie dribbling everywhere
Can't maintain balance, falls over pissibly unable to walk.
Unwilling to move
Seizures in especially high doses
Generally disoriented....this is an overdose and considered animal cruelty where im from. Try and avoid these symptoms

Basically wgat you woyld expect to see on a spice k2 etc jwh full agonist overdose

Greetings from The Bay Area! We're brand new here, and are hoping for some advice/guidance. We have an 11yr rotty who has recently been diagnosed with osteosarcoma. Her vet, my boss, almost had me put her down then and there, but we couldn't do it, she's our heart. She's not a good candidate for amputation surgery, due to her age and weight. When we found out, we were already giving her canna -pet capsules for arthritis. We started giving her the "max cbd" dose and we swear she actually improved! So after this long-ish story, we would like to know if we can make similar capsules with our own leaves and give them to her without harming her? Canna pet is getting expensive and takes forever to get here. So we're exploring other options. She does great on cannibis and we'd like to keep it that way for awhile.

That's funny I had my hunting dogs get into brownies one time and I did notice they were unable to hold there bladder .......I think it would work but like someone said above you should study it in depth because what works for us may not be the best for animals. Good luck

We're completely new to this...do you have a"recipe" or instructions?
