I love to travel and one day hope to retire to the Caribbean. Of course I would also love to retire to a place where it was either totally legal or decriminalized to grow your own bud. I know pot culture is big in Jamaica but honestly Jamaica is not really my cup of tea. I know some of the islands are either under dutch control so I figured at the very least there is a bit of hope.

Anyone know much about drug laws in the Caribbean?

Puerto Rico falls under U.S. federal law, as would the U.S.V.I.. Have you done any Googling?

Jamaica is probably the most liberal Caribbean nation when it comes to marijuana.

Go to Webehigh.com and it should tell you about each nations MJ legislation.

Personally I am not going to buy pot anywhere but the US, Canada, Australia and a select few Euro countries. If I am going to get locked up, at the very least I want to know that there will be a reasonable amount of time between arrest and trial.

has anyone talking like an expert about jamaica ever been there? Rules are very strict about the selling of marijuana, i've been twice (gotten it once), but the people i asked about it warned me not to get caught with it or i would be in jail
now maybe that's because i went to ocho rios which is a highly tourist populated area, but i'm just letting you know it's not as easy as everyone makes it sound

I've been to jamaica three times. Copped all three times without hassle.
Ocho RIos is very touristy, but in no way shape or form like Montego Bay.
I've never bought from the guys at the airport, but always grabbed from either our transfer or guys on the resort. It's not as difficult for everyone else as it is for you. You just weren't persistant enough. Also if you get caught you probably wont go to jail. You'll probably get bribed, but they know why most tourists come down there.
If you're paranoid head to Negril. It's literally EVERYWHERE, and go get you some space cake.
