hey so im wanting to flower my plants soon but smell is gonna be a issue. Do carbon filters really work? how good do they work? the smell doesnt have to be 100% gone but i would like it significantly reduced. The plants are on the top floor id like to keep it smellin like that. so yeah if you have used 1 before leave a comment on your experience please. thanks guys.

ok so u think if i buy a carbon filter and put it right on the inside or outside? of door and put a fan sucking out the air? or pushing it out? that it will work. heres a pic of the door. thanks.

You might want to clover up those slats in the door so that light can't get in when your flowering, and so the air can't go out those instead of the carbon filter. You can put it inside or outside but inside is better, put a fan on it pulling air through it and blowing out a duct that goes through the door.

what everyone said.... they work really well... if all of the air is being exhausted through it...

any air that escapes the room without first passing the filter will stink....

o no no light gets in i got my windows light proof so no light gets into the room let alone the closet. although i been meaning to ask this. Is it alright if the computer light gets in a lil? it would just be like the moon right? but for real i have a big blanket that i just put over the door for the time being. some smell will come out the cracks of the door but i dont mind my room stinkin a lil long as it dont enguelph the entire house lol.

put the carbon filter right in the room...you want it to scrub the air inide your grow space...that's the most efficient way to know you're killing the smell....how many plants are you growing, what strains? All very important- but get a can carbon filter set it on the ground and stick a squirrel cage or inline on top of it and all the air in your grow room will circulate throught....viola...NO SMELL!!

i have power cords with lighted power strip indicators in my grow rooms and they do not harm the plants light cycle...bottom line...no light at all...bueno...miniscule amount of light you're probably okay....my last grow was soem killer Master Kush but it probably had a small light breach at some point and i actually found a small partially developed seed in one of the buds....so yeah you don't want hermies...

I think a computer will probably be ok in there. The carbon filter should still work reasonably because air should be drawn through the slats instead escaping out, because of the suction created by the fan.

filter inside, then pull the air thru the filter than exhaust out. Think of it as a car engine. You filter the air first. Then thru your lights( engine ) than exhaust.

NONONONONONO.....

This thread was going so well with good info.....

That is not the way to set up your exhaust if you are aircooling your lights...

I have to go dig AGAIN for the damn diagram that shows it right....:wall:

If you are aircooling your lights....

You filter the air first. Then thru your lights( engine ) than exhaust.
You need to keep the aircooling separate and dedicated to the lights....

You are creating a temperature nightmare... you will get your plants closer to the light... because you can and to compensate for the glass blocking some of the light....

what happens when the room has reached the "cool" point and the exhaust shuts off???? you burn your plants.....

and if you keep your plants far enough away they won't burn without ventilation,......

then why have the aircooling if you don't need it?????

And please don't try to argue that it is being done all over, because I see people driving down the street with flat tires damn near everyday.... and that does not make it right.....

Here is the correct way to set up an aircooled light, carbon filter exhaust...

Ask any of the PROs... please don't spread DISinformation for newbs to repeat over and over....

If you don't know it, don't try to teach it....

This is not a personal attack ... just trying to keep ROLLITUP based on FACT ... so we can all benefit....

nothing sucks more than goodwilling bad advice....

OK OK I'll shut the fuck up now...

Here is Al B. Fuct's drawing....

a carbon filter is gonna be USELESS untill you comepletely seal your grow space off.. That means your gonna have to make some sort of airtight barrier behind those closet doors because the air is just gonna come straight out of that slatted door man.. I suggest rigging up some sort of door behind of that closet door made of Panda film and zippers.. Your gonna have to comepletely seal that grow room and make it airtight and that closet door is just not gonna work period

yeah but i dont think u understand i was gonna place the carbon stuff across the slates of the door on both sides. just tape it up there in big pieces. and let the door act as the filter. i dont have cool tubes i just got a bulb that hangs there. i have 3 fans in the closet (2 lil mini 1s and a regular size) i got 2 big fans too if need be but as of right now my temps are about 68 at night and 76-80 day)

That is why we use negative air pressure to keep the smell in, just a matter of pulling air out quicker than it's going in!:peace:
