CAP ebb and grow failures

im running gh flora lucas and calmag only, have been for a while now, i just noticed this round that i was getting a (P)(K) def. this only started happening when i added some 1ks to my room. seems like they eat more when they are under them, well all i did is use some liquid kool bloom (0-10-10) at 1/2 strength to spike the (P)(K) up a little seems to be working well. im sitting at 1000 ppm on a .7 conversion which would put you right at about 1120 ppm which is not super high but i rarely go above 1000 ppm. i have a suspicion it is mainly a (P) def because it can cause stunted roots and your saying there are only a few coming from the pots.

i just saw your newest pics, definitly looks like a (P) problem. how much calmag and what kind do you use? im using botanicare and at the rate of 10ml per gal this adds more (N) to the mix as well. if you stick with this formula try using some liquid KB i know it sounds weird in veg but its worked for me i use a 1/2 strength try it out.

Hey Doc, you using the Botanicare Cal/Mag+? I'm getting it in this week or next. Was using the GH formula forever but my distributor doesn't carry it anymore. Are you using 10ml per gallon on every feed? On flushes too? I use Sensi Grow 2 Part and Connoisseur. Both of them are loaded up on the Cal (5 & 3) but are lacking hard on the Mag (>1 for both). Not going to buy there soluble Mag (Tarantula) for $100 a bottle. Any thoughts?

I use Bonaninace cal/mag plus . dont mesasure the cal/mag/ Use the ppm or tds meter . you want 150 PPM of cal mag. that it . maybe 200 ppm but very rare. :)

First thing I thought of for a P K def. I'm a little gunshy to think out of the box right now. I feel as if I have been creating one toxic soup after another. I'm changing out res in a few...5-8-16(hellraizer suggested) and 10ml-gal botanicare cal/mag. I'll let that run for a week and if nothing changes i'm dumping the gh for "the recipe". "never failed" is sounding awful good, but I told the wife I would try 1 more time with what I have before I go drop another couple hun' on a new nute line.

I must say I am overwhelmed by the support here. All I got on other sites was 1 or 2 responses saying "mag def"mag def mag def. I've had those and corrected with no prob so I knew it was more than that. I've noticed since that's pretty much their answer to any "sick plant" problem. Ya'all are my warm blanket, you have given me hope!

This makes sense to me. My continuous read will make that easy. I'll add it last and watch the #'s climb. I'm thinking 700/5-8-16 and top off with cal/mag to 850. If that goes good I'll bump it up to 900-1000.

Good people here. My remark about nitrogen was meant that does wet feet inhibite the plant using nitrogen properly.. Good luck

Sounds like you have a solid plan. I wonder since you are trying to nurse your plants back to health and promote root development if maybe a root excelerator, superthrive, and maybe a B-1 supplement might not be worth thinking about. At least the Superthrive I would think. See what these guys have to say.

No, not at all man. The whole idea of tilting the bucket is so that all of the water drains out of it. Therefore your roots aren't sitting in water like they would be if you didn't riase the buckets and tilt them toward the drain.

yup calmag plus is what i use and i just use 10ml per gal every res change (no add backs with nutes) then i run for a week or two or until i see the ppms have dropped considerably enough to do a res change. i really want to try out a different nute line lol.

Just dropped this in Hell's hydro thread but that new Sentinel Ebb & Flow looks pretty badass. Seems they worked out a lot of the kinks in the C.A.P system and it's 2.5 gallon buckets.

Thanks for the tip. I hear ya on nute lines man. I used to use GH for a long time then switched to B.C. for a little while then to 2 Part Sensi. Just started using Connoisseur about 18 months ago. I've done side by side comparisons whenever I changed and AN is always on top. Even tried out Fox Farms in a side by side and it was kinda week. Got talked into doing a comparison with Dyna that I'm starting next month. I really wanna try House and Garden after that. I've heard some great things about them; especially how clean they are and that they have basically no salts. That is the one thing that kills me about AN, I have to flush for 7-10 days because of the salts. Even when I'm using some of their additives as foliar sprays or in my pumps after a run or two you can see the buildup.

Man I been wanting to try out AN. The reason I haven't changed is because I can't really run any additives the way I'm running perPetual so I'm pretty stuck with base nutes, and was never quite sure how good AN is without all the additives.

Check out heavy 16. I've gotten it down so almost no additives. Even then it's the same amount threw the whole flower.
