Michigan - If you have about ten minutes, the right medical records, and $150, you could be well on your way to getting a doctor's prescription for medical marijuana.

The "Cannabis Caravan" is coming to The University Quality Inn in Lansing June 20th. The people behind it -- The Montana Caregiver's Network -- say it's a way for people who don't have access to physicians, to get the drug they so desperately need.

"It sounds like it's legal," James McCurtis said.

McCurtis is the spokesman for The Michigan Department of Community Health. He said any licensed Michigan Doctor can write the prescription. Hopefully, he said, they are using discretion.

"We don't want patients going in to see a doctor who has only had a relationship with them for two minutes," McCurtis said.

The "Montana Caregivers Network" has been setting up shop all its home state for about a year now signing up thousands of people, at about ten minutes per patient. A Spokesperson told News ten, the appointment doesn't need to take much longer, because medical records are reviewed beforehand.

There has been some negative backlash in Montana over these types of clinics, and there could be some here too. Rep. Rick Jones, who has introduced a bill banning all marijuana clubs, called this type of clinic a 'medical marijuana card mill.' The Ingham County Prosecutor told News Ten he's troubled by it.

So much so that Prosecutor Dunnings said he will reviewing the statute in the next few days.

Mccurtis said it's important to note, the MDCH ultimately has the final say. Even with a doctor's note, a person needs to apply with the state.

"If we are seeing a bunch of frivolous illnesses, we're going to raise the red flag," he said.

The caravan is also making stops in Kalamazoo and Detroit that same weekend.

The "Michigan Caregiver's Network" Website should be up and running in the next few days. To make an appointment with the Lansing clinic on June 20th, call 248-598-0143 beginning June 4th.
