Cannabis Branch Question....

I was wondering why, and to what benefit to the plant, having 2 branches (or what I think are branches) growing from the same location. Should I trim this down? If I do, will it increase my yield? Just looking for some insight.

Here is a screenshot of what I mean.

The lower structure is part of the leaf and is called a petiole. The one growing in the "armpit" is a just a side shoot.
It is how the plant grows. Its part of its morphology.
Pruning is a personal choice and has to do with how you want the plant to grow as opposed to letting it grow the way it will without your direction. You don't have to prune at all but you'll get better results if you do some pruning.

More branches = more budsites
Budsites = buds
Study up on Canopy management.
Even canopy = extremely consistent bud size throughout.
It's a sure fire way to maximize yield.
