Canadian living in the UK, wishing she was in the US of A!

Hey,
How is everyone today? Thought I'd join the place and introduce myself as I admit I totally have been trolling for a while. Not serious trolling but having a nosey here and there.... about myself errrr.... I am an older fart in my 30s, originally Canadian and moved to the UK about 8 years ago to work abroad. ( and stayed!)

Weed has always been my thing. I love to smoke it from back in the day, early teenager days in Canada. Then I got diagnosed with a long term degenerative arthritic disease called Ankylosking Spondylitis. ( say it 10 times fast, go on!I dare ya)which not only makes me feel like ass all of the time, but I have to take a bunch of prescription meds that make me feel like more ass. Smoking cannabis helps me not feel like shit all the time.

I am sure you have all heard this song before - and the great injustice of cannabis being illegal - so I shall put away my soap box because that is not what I am here for, I'd be preaching to the converted...

I want to grow, but can't at the moment. I have friends that grow and I want to learn everything I can about it for when I have the chance to do it for myself. ( ... by then do it better than any of them can, mwahh hahh haaaa!)

I also have another friend who is contemplating a super stealth project in an apartment - I am trying to convince him it is possible and that he should do it with my help :-P

um, what else.... I like cats. They are fuzzy and they purr.

I like the States, have spent time in Florida, Chicago and Minnesota -- what's California like, or Portland, anyone? anyone? I would love to go there someday and loads of other places too - like COLORADO!

enough about me, what about you?
1. what is your favourite strain(s) at the minute?
2. What indica / sativa balance do you prefer and why?
3. Do you remember having your first spliff?
4. What was your first grow? What did you learn?
5. do you swear by soil or hydro?
6. Do you rate LEDs?

Gonna go roll and whoah I wrote and essay lol lol

Hey cheeba.. am in uk as well born and bred and also an oldie in my 30s... have been thinking of emigrating to canada, have family in calgary and vancouver, Have never been but when family visits they always tell me how much better it is over there, more space, better attitudes, friendlier people etc.... I'm thinking of taking a holiday there and if it is as good as my fam says I'm gonna try get over there... Have also thought about a move to USA as well but am leaning more to canada... as you have lived in both canada and uk which do you prefer and why????

Hi Mo,
Nice to meet ya. I am originally from Toronto. I love Canada but wanted to move for a change and I also love the UK too! They are different, mainly the space(and the amount of people in it, but I have usually lived in cities in Canada and the UK)everything is bigger in North America, due to more space to play with. Things seem condensed in the UK by comparison. The weather - I'd consider myself to be a Northerner in the UK so lots of grey skies and rain, and more rain followed by grey skies. which I get sick of! I miss the proper defined seasons in Ontario - hot and sunny in the summer, but also dont miss the 5 months under the snow! ( but at least the sun comes out more in the winter there!)

Work wise, Here the average working week is what 37.5 h full time with 24 days standard holiday (plus bank hols) and in Canada its 40h + to be full time, and 10 days standard holiday! 10 DAYS! I am not sure I could go back to that lol lol.

i think the people are equally friendly, but in canada have less reservations about starting a conversation with a stranger.
I think people are friendly in the city where I live (Manc) but others would beg to differ...

...Can you get a visa?

Hey cheeba really good to meet ya as well, nice comparison your description sounds just like my fam describe canada.. I'm also a northerner, born and bred yorkshire man who gets sick of grey skies and rain...lol, but have also lived and ran my own business in london between 2005- 2008 in camden town (fun times)... but decided to move back up north and finish my acedemic studies. got my final year of my degree starting in sept...

I did not know how hard the canadians work my fam never mentioned that.. lol and only 10 days holidays.. wow I dont know if I would be able to handle that.. lol

My fam from uk who go to canada quite frequently always mention how friendly canadians are when we chat about canada and they also mention the space there is..

I am not too sure about visa, but I think I would have a good chance.. do you think it would be very difficult to get a visa? I know america is quite difficult as my friend kept having problems with his visa when he wanted to visit..
